June 21st is creeping up on us and I must admit I am getting more thrilled about this movie by the minute, wait, by the second! One of my favorite Disney/Pixar movies is Monsters Inc.
I mean, my last name is Sullivan, so Sully is just a natural fav in our house.
I have been trailing this movie clip by clip…So here you go.

EPIC In Theaters Now! Review With No Spoilers!

 In Theaters Now

   Blue Sky Entertainment’s Epic tells the story of teenager Mary Katherine (or M.K., as she claims to go by), who goes off to live with her father at the edge of the woods after her mother passes away. Her father, estranged because of his obsession with the advanced race of tiny people he believes live in the forest, seems  crazy to M.K. at first, but soon she finds herself swept up into the world of those same people– the leaf men, sworn to protect the forest from the decay spread by the evil bogguns.

 
 Following a series of magical events in the world of the leaf men, M.K. becomes not only shrunk to the size of these mysterious creatures, but also the chief protector of the sprout that holds the key to the life of the forest. If she, her new leaf-man friends Nod and Ronin, and the slug and snail duo Mub and Grub cannot protect the bulb until it blooms, then the forest will fall into the decay-laden hands of the evil boggun leader, Mandrake. Will M.K. and her friends be able to protect the life and growth of the forest from falling into Mandrake’s hands? The battle is on in Blue Sky’s Epic.

   Epic is based on a book by William Joyce, entitled The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs. Joyce,  who has been author and illustrator to over fifty children’s books, wrote The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs in 1996, and is also known for his other works Rolie Polie Olie, George Shrinks, and the Guardians of Childhood series, which was adapted earlier this year into the film Rise of the Guardians. Joyce has earned many awards for his creations, and Epic certainly fits in with such esteemed company!


     In addition to excellent source material, the film boasts a stellar voice cast, including a diverse group of actors and actresses such as Amanda Seyfried, Josh Hutcherson, Colin Farrell, Aziz Ansari, Chris O’Dowd, Jason Sudeikis, and Christoph Waltz, and even some familiar faces from the music world, like Steven Tyler, Beyonce, and Pitbull. Pitbull in particular gives quite the performance as the dirty-dealing toad Bufo, a “businessman” who fixes races, calls shots, and aids the evil Mandrake in his plot to spread decay throughout the forest.
   Epic is a summer must for families, 3D enthusiasts, and all who enjoy a good story! Its breathtaking look at miniature landscapes will catch your eye, its clever humor will tickle your funny bone, and its themes of valuing nature and family will touch your heart. If your children are like mine they love the ipad, ipod touch, and even the iphone. My six year old daughter happens to adore Doc Mc Stuffins. She has been a little doctor herself since about age two- checking everyone in the family daily with her own doctor kit. I was thrilled when Doc McStuffins hit Disney Junior and now things have gotten even better. Recently, Disney/ABC Television Group’s Digital Media team has launched the “Doc McStuffins: Time For Your Check Up!” App based on the popular Disney Junior series, “Doc McStuffins.” The new activity based app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch allows players to join Doc, along with Hallie, Lambie and the rest of her friends for a fun-filled time fixing, sorting, exploring and caring for toys, dolls and more. Inside Doc’s clinic players can choose from four entertaining and engaging developmental activities.

`This app is just adorable and of course after spending twenty years as an elementary school teacher I had to check the app myself for educational value. I am happy to report there is plenty to learn on the this app. So you have the best of both worlds. You child will not even begin to suspect they are learning as they have fun with Doc Mc Stuffins. Leave it to Disney to come up with this amazing app.

I absolutely adore how my daughter could take an x-ray of her stuffed animals or
any members of the family and have a life like x-ray photo right in front of her eyes.
There are also other hands on games and activities that will keep your child interactive with their toys, friends and family. They can use the visual stethoscope and octoscope to examine their patients. Not to mention how fast these words became part of Em’s vocabulary! Your child (or you, because you definitely will want to try this app out yourself) can check out Check-Up and help Doc Mc Stuffins diagnose and cure patients based on their different ailments. Another part of the app is Mixupitis where your children have to make sure that each toy has the correct parts. One of Em’s favorite parts was Picture Stickers where she could decorate the photos she took of all of us with different stickers including band aids and more.

The Big Book of Boo Boos saves the names and diagnoses of cured patients so players can go back and look at them at anytime. Additionally, throughout the game players will be able to earn Doctor’s Notes prescribed with “lots of love,” “kisses” and “cuddles.”
