Giveaway: Lego Art Of The Brick at Discovery Times Square NYC (3 winners)

Giveaway: The Art Of The Brick
 Discovery Times Square NYC
Win A 5 Pack of Tickets (3 winners)
Lego fans unite, you will not want to miss out on this exhibit that just hit
Discovery Times Square, NYC. Being a mom of three, our house is pretty well stocked
with Legos of every shape and size. Over the years of parenting I have spent countless hours building freestyle Legos in addition to following pages of directions to complete a certain
Lego project. When I first heard about Nathan Sawaya I did a double take. I needed to find out more about him and his interesting life of building Legos as a career.
Meeting Nathan was a pleasure and hearing about his life and how this lawyer gone artist really intrigued me. That was only the tip of the iceberg. Nathan took our little group on a private tour of the new exhibit, The Art of the Brick-now at Discovery Times Square, NYC.
As we toured from room to room everyone was fascinated by more than one hundred of
wonder creations using nothing more than Legos. It all started with a brick and then another and another. I was wowed by the Sculpture Garden which included famous sculptures recreated in Lego forms. I asked Nathan as we chatted if the pieces were solid or hollow. He let me know they were hollow and because of their size would be way too heavy to transport if they were solid.
Nathan was very open and answered questions in each of the rooms.
This dinosaur took about twelve weeks to complete.
Pieces were easily recognizable with some of the most popular being The Statue of Liberty and a Head from Easter Island. There were so many unique pieces and so many recreations of famous painting including the Mona Lisa, American Gothic, One Pearl Earring and more. My six year old daughter loved the Lego Planet Earth that hung high above us as we walked down a stairway. My middle son was taken by The Swimmer which included a backdrop of lights simulating waves. As for me, I adored the stained glass Lego window that hung from the ceiling with the reflection of it below on the floor. I never would have known it was a Lego creation. If you are in the NYC area you will not want to wonderful exhibit. There is something for everyone!
You can find out more about The Art of the Brick here.

Build-A-Bear Workshop Has A New Interactive Experience Just For You

Build-A-Bear Workshop Has A New
Interactive Experience Just For You
Gift Card Giveaway
Photos and story by Diane Sullivan.
Recently my family was invited to try out the new Build-A-Bear experience available at some of the Build-A-Bear Workshops. We visited Roosevelt Field Mall in New York. It’s always a warm feeling to be greeted with huge smiles from the workers at the entrance of the store.
Our family loves the Build-A-Bear and has frequented the store many, many times over the years. Having children with age spans from 22 to 6 let’s you see the many updates that take place over the years in different stores. The new Build-A-Bear experience is something you will definitely want to try out for yourself. It’s updated to a state of the arts way of building your bear with many more interactive features. The experience is enhanced with innovative technology to provide a richer, more interactive experience for children and families.

Let’s get started on what is new. I decided to just list each stop along the Build-A-Bear experience so you can see exactly what happens along the way. Just for the record, personally, I think Build-A-Bear is something for all ages. I did have the chance to live it through my children, but I could not wait to get my hands on that furry little creature and give it a few hugs of my own. Some people are teddy bear people and some people are not, I have been a teddy bear person since birth and guess I always will be.

Stop 1: Choose Me
At the choose me stop you have the chance to look at all the different choices of bears and other stuffies including dogs, cats, monkeys, bears, Hello Kitty, Sponge Bob, The Smurfs and more. There is definitely something for everyone. It was a hard choice to make but one of the workers gave us some great advice telling Emily to hug the one she likes and if it hugs her back it’s the right one. Of course the Pink Bear was the hugger winner. Emily and Pink Bear also got some big hugs from everyone in the family since the fluff that she would be stuffing her bear with is made from hugs!
Stop 2: Love Me
The Love Me stop is where you can put in information and some qualities you like in your new friend. Will they be strong, funny, cute, happy, loyal, etc? You can choose!

Stop 3: Hear Me
At the Hear Me stop you can choose a sound chip to go into your new friend. They go from simple sayings, to I love you and even theme music and a choice of songs. You can even record your own message onto a sound chip! I feel a Mother’s Day gift in the future with this one! Emily chose, “I love you”.
Stop 4: Stuff Me
Of course this was one of our favorite stations. There was a lot of stuffing going around since there were a lot of hugs back at Stop One. Emily was able to kiss her new bear’s heart before putting it into him along with her choice of scents(optional). She chose strawberry, but was on the fence about cotton candy and watermelon. There were quite a few choices of lite scents that make your friend even more special. At this stop I also found out something amazing. The worker tore off a section of the bear’s tag and wrote Emily’s name on it. She placed it inside the bear along with the heart and scent clip. We were told that if a bear from Build-A-Bear gets lost and someone returns it to the store they can easily find out who the bear’s owner is from the tag! Over 4,000 lost bears have been returned to date.
Em was so excited about the stuffing station!
Stop 5: Fluff Me
Fluff me is awesome! The new fluffing station has an interactive and responsive top that splashes virtual water, adds feet onto the rubber duckie you are holding as it swims, makes a virtual stream of water from your boat and helps your new teddy get all cleaned up. When time is up the virtual water drains and a sign comes up, “All Clean”.

Stop 6: Dress Me
Open your eyes wide for this one! There are so many different choices to dress your new friend it, it’s just incredible. The prices vary so you don’t have to worry about breaking the bank. You can grab anything from a tee shirt with peace signs and hearts to a superhero, princess, sports outfits and more. The accessories are endless. Some of our favorites were the little pocketbooks and the sunglasses! After you choose there is a special place just for you to dress your new friend up.

Stop 7: Name Me
At the new Name Me stop you can swipe your new friend’s tag and easily pick a name, birthday and birth certificate of your choice. It’s quick and easy.
Stop 8: Take Me Home
When you finish up all the stops just head over to Take Me Home with all of your tags. Someone at the register will help you out and box up your new friend for the trip home. Don’t forget to sign up for the Bear Rewards program. It’s free and you can earn points for every purchase.
We made more than one friend that day!
Our trip to the NEW Build-A-Bear Workshop was just amazing. We really did not know what to expect and were quite surprised by all of the updates. Honestly, I could not imagine that Build-A-Bear Workshop could get any better. I was quite surprised and delighted by the changes. If you have the chance to visit a Build-A-Bear Workshop near you, do not let the chance pass you by! You can never have enough friends, can you?
GIVEAWAY
Build-A-Bear Workshop has been kind enough to give one lucky 3decades3kids reader a chance to check out the new Build-A-Bear for themselves with a $25 Build-A-Bear gift card.
Contest ends August 1, 2013 at noon. Winner will be contacted by email and have 24 hours to respond before a new winner is chosen. Prize delivery by Build-A-Bear Workshop.

Dollie & Me Perfect For The Little Girl In Your Life

Dollie & Me
Perfect For The Little Girl In Your Life

After being a boymom for sixteen years before Emily came along, I guess I was missing out on a little bit of reliving my own childhood. When I was a little girl my love for dolls far outweighed anything else. Watching Emily play with dolls reminds me of the strong connection little girls and dollies have with each other. There are dolls she plays with and there are dolls she loves. Dollie & Me is definitely in the love column.

Recently we had a chance to check out Dollie & Me’s new website. We had a ball looking through the easy to navigate pages and checking all the different Dollie & Me matching clothes, accessories, and more. The site is so easy that my daughter took the mouse and checked it out for herself. We ordered one Dollie & Me doll and some matching clothes.
It was a tough choice so I had to promise we would revisit the site very soon for a follow up order. You can check it out for yourself right here. dollieme.com You will love the site, trust me! Another perk is that you can order clothes that are available in sets to match your little girl and her dollie OR you can order just clothes for your dollie! I already heard we would be ordering some extra clothes just for the dollie. I mean, a dollie can never have enough clothes or shoes, right?

Check out the video below to HEAR Em’s reaction to opening the box(it’s at the end)!
Since Emily is big into dolls and big into fashion, Dollie & Me is a perfect choice. The prices are reasonable, so she could do a bit more shopping that usual. The great news about the Dollie & Me clothes is that they will fit on any of her 18 inch dolls, which we have a few of

already.  Dollie & Me dolls are designed by the Alexander Doll Company, Inc., the same designer and manufacturer of Madame Alexander dolls. The 18 inch dolls have beautiful flowing hair for easy styling (which we do a lot of around here), jointed bodies, and sleep eyes. This is a feature that was very popular last night at bedtime. Emily loved putting her dollie to sleep and seeing her close her eyes. Another feature we both love is how the dollie will stand up all by herself, no leaning! Wow, that is amazing at play time and leads to less frustration when setting up the dollies. Check out Dollie & Me on Instagram,  , Facebook, and Twitter

Giveaway: Doodle Jump for the XBOX Live Kinect – (with video) 5 Winners

Giveaway: Doodle Jump for XBOX Live Kinect
5 Code Winners and Video
I think half of the conversation in this house revolves around gaming and around XBOX Live! I could probably tell you stats on games I’ve never played, but know enough about from hearing the daily details. Don’t get me wrong, I’m pretty into gaming myself and have tried just about every game that has entered the house, some more than others! As a mother of a 6-year-old, a 13-year-old, and a 22-year-old, I needed to find the perfect game for my whole family to enjoy. I found the exact game I was looking for when I found out about Doodle Jump for Kinect. I wanted to keep my family active this summer, and Doodle Jump for Kinect does a great job balancing activity and fun gameplay!
I had never heard of Doodle Jump before, and after my son saw it on the Xbox Live Marketplace, he said how excited he was for the game, since he was already familiar with it because it started out as a mobile title. Although I hadn’t heard of Doodle Jump before, I was happy to see it was for Kinect, because I strongly encourage the combination of gaming and activity. I was thrilled to be offered the chance for the family to check it out! Everyone had an awesome time, including mom and dad!

Doodle Jump for Kinect responds to all your moves. With every step you take your green little character friend steps up and jumps. Want him to destroy the monsters that are after his land?
Just move your hand and he will get them. This game is rated E for everyone and can be played alone or by taking turns. I may be caught this summer playing this game alone because I can understand it!
Don’t let this one pass you by. Now available on the XBOX Live Arcade for 400 Microsoft Points.
