Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom- So Much Summer Fun All In One Place!DorneyParkSummer6Summer time is winding down but there are still a few weeks to enjoy some summer fun at Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom in Allentown, Pa. This wonderful theme park has two parks in one! This was a first for our family. We arrived early (well, not too early- you know how long it takes us to get out the door) and headed to the Dorney Park’s Wild Water Kingdom.

Dorney’s Wild Water Kingdom- We opted for the cabana zone. There are two cabana areas- one has full cabanas with complete privacy, the other (the one we had) was a zoned off area with lounge chairs and oversized umbrellas to share everyone in the area. I’m not sure how much the private cabanas were, but the side we were on were $15 per person and well worth it. There were no crowds and plenty of shade. We also opted for a locker. If you are heading to the water park I highly suggest you take a locker. It’s just not worth the worry of leaving your cell phone, wallet, camera, etc for anyone to grab up while you are enjoying yourself. The lockers come in three sizes and you there is a bag check size so you can tell ahead of time which one is right for you. We went with the smallest size which was $20. That was kind of on the high priced side of lockers we have rented at different waterparks but worth it so we could all swim together.

DorneyParkSummer7DorneyParkSummerOur family never realized just how vast in size Wild Water Kingdom was until we experienced it first hand. There are two huge wave pools! We love wave pools and these two, although crowded were really fun. Everyone was respectful in the water and actually really friendly. After the wave pools we headed to the lazy river. There are also two lazy rivers! My daughter and I  are total lazy river fans and these were really superfun! There were plenty of tubes and many squirts along the way. We had a ton of laughs and did end up going around quite a few laps! We did split from the boys because they were into the big water slides( which there were SO many of). Everywhere you looked there was another waterslide. What an incredible place. Emily and Mommy checked out the kids’ zone where there was a yellow submarine and plenty to do.

The Food Plan- A definite must do if you are staying in the park all day. The food plan is amazing. It runs about $35 a person. You can opt to buy it for any or all of the people in your party. By wearing the food band (which is waterproof) you can dine every ninety minutes as various places throughout Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom. The same band works in both parks. The food choices range from burgers, cheesesteak, broiled chicken, salads, chicken strips, official Subway sandwiches, BBQ ribs, pizza and more and more. There is definitely something for everyone. The drinks are not included but you can purchase a drink all day mug or a drink all season mug separately.

Dorney Park is always amazing. It was a hot hot day when we visited so we did not leave the waterpark until around 5pm. By that time the theme park crowds were reduced and the lines had a much shorter wait time. We were able to walk up and get right onto just about anything. The guys broke off and rode the biggie coasters . Some of their favorites are Hydra, Steel Force and Talon!

Emily and Mommy headed over  to Planet Snoopy, a Peanuts themed mini themepark located right inside of Dorney Park!  We took a spin on the Woodstock Whirlybirds, rode on the Camp Bus, Emily bounced her feet off in the Snoopy’s Moon Bounce and more. Planet Snoopy is huge and has so many choices for kids that are not into the bigger thrill rides. You can also meet the Peanuts’ characters after the live show that plays a few times a day. They even have a Snoopy themed kids’ meal!

DorneyParksummer3 As the night went on we played some skill games. I absolutely love that there are a few games in the park that are definite “Win” games for the kids. For $5 you walk away with a prize! ( The picture below is a play till you win game- no one leaves without a prize!). Thank you Dorney Park for making all kids smile! We kind of have a little Funnel Cake tradition, too. Before we leave the park the last thing we do is grab a freshly made traditional funnel cake. They are so hot and delicious and your entire family can share one- they are so big! The do come in a box in case you want to take one home or cannot finish yours. DorneyParkSummer4If you are in the Dorney Park area you definitely should visit with the family. It’s a great place for all ages and fun for everyone. It does help to check out their site before you go so you can have a bit of a plan in place. I always like to know one thing everyone in the family wants to do before we go so we can plan on that as part of our day and everyone leaves in a good mood. This year our choices went like this: Mommy(me)- Water Park! Daddy(Hubby)- Thunder Canyon! Louie-Talon! Adam- Hydra! Emily- Planet Snoopy and Win something! Everyone was able to get what they wanted and we had an awesome time. We cannot wait to visit this fall for one our favorite Dorney Park experiences: Haunt!
