We have probably all been on the road and have seen a distracted driver. It makes me crazy driving next to someone that is looking as his phone instead of the road! I get so nervous wondering what will happen next and cannot believe what I am actually seeing. It’s bad enough to be distracted at a red light, but while driving is absolutely nuts!
April is Distracted Driving Awareness month! It’s time to accept the challenge against distracted driving by taking the pledge at www.FightDistractedDriving.com.
According to the results of a recent statewide distracted driving study of 1,000 Digital Natives – the first generation born into a digital world – commissioned by Plymouth Rock Assurance, 73 percent had witnessed a friend texting while driving and 70 percent have seen a friend using a phone without hands-free technology.
More alarming is that parents are not setting the best example, as 25 percent have witnessed a parent texting while driving and 57 percent have seen a parent using a phone without hands-free technology. Please help us to change these statistics.
There was once a time when wearing a seatbelt was optional and drinking and driving did not have the stigma it does today. Thankfully, things have changed. But, today we face an equally dangerous problem–cell phone use and other forms of distracted driving. Plymouth Rock Assurance is leading the charge to promote a cultural change by exposing the dangers of distracted driving.
April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and Plymouth Rock is closing in fast on its Guinness World Records title for Most Pledges to a Safety Campaign. With your help, we can facilitate a movement garnering 25,000 signatures to the Pledge Against Distracted Driving.
