Camelback Lodge and Camelback Mountain- Swim and Ski- A Perfect Winter Getaway For The Family

PicMonkey CollagePack your Ski Googles and your Swim Googles! Tube in the water and tube on the snow!  This winter has been a real challenge for our family. The snow has been hiding from us, but it is here now and we love to play in it! The boys love skiing, snowboarding and tubing. Emily is obsessed with skiing and snowtubing! We love winter just as much as summer. Every winter there is one place our family loves to go- Camelback Mountain. This year is more amazing than ever because of the newly opened Camelback Lodge Resort.

CBLfamilyIf you are looking for a place to visit during the winter Camelback Lodge is a great choice. Our family loves to swim and our family loves all things snow! Visiting Camelback Lodge was a perfect choice for us. Let me tell you about our weekend! We arrived Saturday morning and checked in at about noon. Although our room would not be ready until check in time at 4 pm, once we had our wristbands we headed to the indoor waterpark, Aquatopia! What a perk. 84 degrees and loaded with a range of choices for everyone in the family. My personal favorite at Aquatopia was the Lost River that takes you on a journey through an underground river complete with iguanas! Don’t miss it when you visit. My boys headed for the thrill waterslides. My daughter and I spent a while in the wave pool. We even rented the latest addition, the Luma Tube that lights up in different colors. It’s a must do for anyone that loves things that light up. Before leaving the waterpark everyone hit the Flowrider! No complaints!

After drying off we headed out the lodge to go snowtubing. You can take a shuttle down the hill to the snowtubing, or drive your own car. Both are easy choices. We took a 4 hours slot which was plenty of time to snowtube to our hearts content! They also have a warm up section that sells hot cocoa, churros, sweets and more. There are also photographers on hand to capture your fun time!

CBLhemispheres

cbldessertshemiBy the time we finished snowtubinng our room was ready. The room we had was the basic suite which included two queen sized beds and a pull out couch. We had a gorgeous mountain view. I would suggest asking for the mountain view but just so you know, it’s a long walk from the lobby. It’s worth the view!! Before we hit the room we stopped at Hemispheres, the buffet restaurant for dinner. A lot of choices and the food was delish. There was everything from a pizza bar to personal choices created by a chef in front of your eyes. The desserts are also incredible, so save some room. My daughter was obsessed with the make it yourself ice cream toppings bar. We were lucky enough to be seated at a table by the windows that overlooked the snowtubing. Nice view, Good food- made for a perfect dinner. There are quite a few dining areas at Camelback Lodge. Please check out our Ski In-Ski Out Dining Experience at Trails End Pub and Grille here.cblroom

cblsnowtubeemilyThen it was up to the room for a little R&R. The room was roomy so no was got into each other’s space. That’s always a good thing. Next day was check out at 11am. We had a skiing reservation and lift tickets for later in the afternoon. We also had reservations on the Mountain Coaster, a fun filled ride that rolls in any time of year. First up was the arcade, then mini golf! There were quite a few activity choices. While my kids took on a lazer challenge, hubby and I hit the indoor/outdoor hottub! Loved it! There was even a light snow falling as we enjoyed the mountain view from the outside! The outdoor hottub is a must do! It’s located in the way back left hand side of Aquatopia. So our trip was a definite success. We swam, snowtubed and skied. Everyone was happy, but we definitely were wiped out by the end! Congrats Camelback! You are doing something right! How do I know? My family is already asking when we can go back- a true sign that it really was an awesome time. See you soon Camelback Lodge! Ski In Ski Out Dining! Trails End Pub and Grille at Camelback Lodge Resort-A Must Do!

CBLTrailsendKidsAt the end of the trail and at the bottom of the mountain you can find this delightful new addition to Camelback Lodge resort, Trails End Grille and Pub. This is a must do and skis are welcome! You can ski right up to the outdoor tables and dine! What a perk. As for us, we were already done with our snow fun, so we entered from the resort and dined inside. What a beautiful view and what delicious food! The food was reasonable in price and very tasty. From steaks to burgers there was something for everyone.CBLTrailsEnd

cblfriesThey also had a great kids’ menu! We went in for some desserts but could not resist the tempting burgers the menu had to offer. There is nothing better for this family than a “choose your own” burger menu. We had the freedom of choice from type of burger, fixins, bun type and more. The burgers are served with homemade waffle chips. We decided to test out one of the many fancy fry dishes. Our favorite was the Philly Cheesesteak fries! They had a variety of fancy fries, including Disco fries. When you do visit, please keep in mind the fry dishes are more than enough for two people, even if you are a big fry eater.CBLsmores

The desserts were incredible, too!  There were only three choices, but all three were incredible! The S’mores comes in an cast iron pan so be careful, it is very very hot! There was also apple pie tart with ice cream and Jack Daniel’s chocolate whisky cake. We tried all three and I believe that the S’mores was definitely a family favorite! Check out the pics. This is a must do dining spot if you are visiting Camelback Lodge! Yum! If you have the coupon book from check in, there is also a coupon in there to use at Trail’s End!

P.S. Trails End-We’ll be back on skis to try out the outside dining very soon! Our family has definitely been chatting about skiing in and enjoying those S’mores outdoors while we warm up around the fire pits! We are so there. Looking for an absolutely wonderful place to visit with your family? Look no further than Hershey, Pennsylvania. Our family recently took a roadtrip to Hershey, Pa to spend the weekend. We love getting out of the city and heading to the beautiful mountains and countryside that surrounds the Sweetest Place on Earth. This trip we had a definite list of things we wanted to do including checking out the new ride- Laugh Trakk.

To our family there is no better place to be than Hershey, Pa! We just love Hershey Park and all the memories we have created throughout the years. With a family of five we are always looking for weekends we can spend just unplugged- sharing laughs and good times. Hershey Park has something for each one of us. I honestly believe it has something for everyone. As soon as we arrived at Hershey Park we headed directly to the newest ride, Laugh Trakk! The ride definitely did not disappoint. This indoor spinning roller coaster had us from the entrance which is fully lined with mirrors to get your group laughing and having fun before the ride even begins. The Fun House theme is in full effect and trust me on this one, do not miss it when you are visiting! By the way there is a Hershey Park app you can download to have the entire park in the palm of your hands.

Personally I think one of the biggest perks to Hershey Park is the enclosed waterpark- The Boardwalk. We just love it. This seasonal delight is just big enough for you to enjoy for an hour or the entire day. It’s a great place to start off the day and then continue you on to all the nighttime fun there is in store. My daughter is pretty much obsessed with the both the mini and big wave pool at The Boardwalk. As for hubby and the boys, they can’t keep away from the waterslides and tubes. There are also Boardwalk themed games of chance and foods right there to make you feel like you are at a seaside resort!

When it comes to choosing a resort while visiting Hershey Park you will not find better than the Hotel Hershey and the Hershey Lodge. During this trip we had the true pleasure of experiencing the Hershey Lodge which captivates you for the moment of check-in to the Hershey Characters appearing in the lobby and the special kids check in time where children can decorate their own lanyard and join into special check in activities. As for the rooms- spectacular! They are just beautiful, clean and super roomy! Did I mention that the wallpaper in the rest room is Hershey kiss themed. As a guest of the resort you are treated to extra time in Hershey Park along with a free shuttle service that takes guests door to door. The only issue we found about the Hershey Lodge is that it is very difficult to leave. It’s so welcoming and there are so many activities, along with an indoor and outdoor pool that you may never want to leave!

We found the best way to work a two day/ one night stay is to arrive early on day one- check in early at the resort and pick up the tickets to Hershey Park. Then head over to the themepark for the day. On day two we wake up and head over to the indoor/outdoor pool for a swim, then head over to Chocolate World.

Chocolate World is located just before the entrance to Hershey Park. It is free to enter, and you can also take The Ride Chocolate Tour through a the story of making chocolate which includes a sample at the end of the ride. Yum! It’s also a great place to shop and dine. You can find all of your favorite Hershey’s candies and also some that you may not find anywhere else. There are special cupcakes, fudges, choco covered strawberries, milkshakes and so much more.

There are activities you can choose for an additional price. The trolley ride, Trolley Works is a fun family activity that takes you on an entertaining and informative ride through time. We tried three of the activites. All three were family friendly and definitely worth it! Our first was the 4D Chocolate Mystery- Wow! This fun 4D interactive show even includes the audience to choose the ending! You may even hear your name, so listen carefully. Our second choice was The Chocolate Tasting Experience (new for 2015). Chocolate Tasting? Count me in! Our family was not sure what to expect but it certainly exceeded all of our expectations. Without giving out spoilers I can just tell you that this activity purred from beginning to end. We learned how sight, smell and sound all play into the different types of chocolates throughout the world. And I thought I was a chocolate expert! Our final activity was Create Your Own Candy Bar! Wooza!! This one was definitely my favorite. The entire family felt like we were transported into the Hershey’s Chocolate factory to create our very own chocolate bars! First you suit up including a hairnet, then you choose your toppings, and watch your chocolate bar created on the assembly line right in front of your very eyes. During the process you even have the chance to create your very own original wrapper! This is definitely something you will want to do again and again. So much fun!

A Visit To The Peeps & Company Store In Bethlehem, PA! #SummerInPA

A Visit To The Peeps & Company Store In Bethlehem, PA

By Diane Sullivan

peepsstorepeacock
This amazing peacock is made of Peeps!

Our family is spending this summer in Pennsylvania! There is so much to do and so close to home. With most PA attractions under three hours away, they are great for day trips or to combine into longer stays. Recently we visited a Pa theme park and decided to stop at the Peeps & Company Store in Bethlehem, Pa on the way home. Total RIGHT CHOICE!

Our family has been long time Peeps fans, or should I say long time Just Born Brand fans! We all love Peeps and are thrilled that the Peeps line has extended into other holidays. We also have some big Just Born fans in the house. Just Born is the maker of Peeps, Mike&Ike, Hot Tamales and Peanut Chews! So, where our family heard there was a store we could get to, we had to visit!

peepsstore1
You can choose the Mike & Ike flavors that you like!

Eveything Peeps!

The Peeps & Company Store is located in the Outlets at the Sands and next to the Sand Casino. It’s easy to find and located near an entrance door which is great if you just want to visit the one store, OR if  you are in the mood for a little outlet shopping. We did make a special trip just to visit this store! If you are a Peeps fan, it’s a MUST! They have Peeps everything!  We found Yankee Candles Peeps, Peeps bubbles, Hats, tee shirts, Jammies, stationary, and of course specialty Peeps! This place lives up!

In addition to Peeps and free samples, there was a special section in the back of the store where you could measure your Hot Tamale level and see just how HOT you are! There was also a Mike & Ike Station. Yessssss!!!! They had little containers that held about a pound of Mike & Ikes and you could choose the flavors you liked and leave out what you did not like! I was pretty much obsessed with the Mango flavor! There were the originals, plus Root Beer, Pineapple, Lemonade, Blue Raspberry, Strawberry, Sour Apple and more.  Delicious! If you are a Mike & Ike fan, this is just a heavenly experience!

Check out our video of The Peeps Brand Store and everything inside! https://youtu.be/

Did I mention there were Mike & Ike lollipops with Mike & Ikes inside of them? It was like being a kid in a candy store. Wait, we really were in a candy store. This place lived up!
