Top Five Tips For Attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! #NotSoScary

Top Five Tips For Attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom!

Our family loves Halloween and we love Walt Disney World! With saying that I’m sure you already figured out that we always look forward to attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom.  This is how the party works. Generally Magic Kingdom closes to regular guests at 6 pm on party nights. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party goes from 7 pm to midnight, but you can pick up your party wristband at 4pm at the front gates or at locations throughout the park. This gives you two hours of park time before the party begins. Between 6-7pm cast members get busy clearing all of the non-banded guests. There are quite a few places to Trick-Or-Treat but we only stopped at a few.

By 7 pm you can be ready for some unique magical fun that only Walt Disney World could put together. Honestly it will exceed all of your expectations and it’s something that our family loves to attend over and over again. Bonus- It’s great for all ages! So, you may be wondering why someone would spend extra money to go to an after hours party? You may be wondering if it is worth it. It is, it totally IS! You cannot find any better way to celebrate Disney and Halloween if you tried.

It’s your choice if you want to dress in costume or not. Disney does have some strict guidelines including no masks but there are definitely plenty of costume choices if you want to join into the Halloween spirit! If you don’t want to be in costume that works, too. It’s all up to you. Last year we all purchased the 2017 official Halloween party tees for the family and wore them the entire night except for Emily who was decked out in her Frozen Elsa attire from head to toe. As for this year we held up to tradition and purchased the 2018 tees for the family. My oldest son dressed as Jack Skellington and Emily found an adorable Sailor Minnie Mouse from the Disney Cruise!

Now as for those Top Five Tips For Attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, here goes!

1. If you already have passes and are spending the day at Magic Kingdom pick up your passes in the back of the park and start there! Wristbands are given out at 4 pm. We lined up by the Buzz Lightyear ride at about 3:15. It was worth the wait to be one of the first few people in line. By the time 4 pm rolled around the lines were pretty long but we were already on our way! By the way, even though the party does not start until 7 pm, the Trick or Treating begins at 4 pm and we found most of the specialty desserts were also available around the same time.

2.  Do not under any circumstances miss the Headless Horseman that comes down the street before the Boo To You Parade! It is one of the most amazing things you will ever see! The parade is great, too! If you can, grab a spot on Main Street. They have a pre-parade dance party with the characters from Zootopia and the kids and go out into the street to join them! It’s so much fun! Main Street is also the best back drop for the parade. There are shadow castings of ghosts and ghouls and pumpkins on the buildings and flickering Jack-O-Lanterns in the windows of the stores.

3. Map out what specialized Halloween treats you want and where to get them, including popcorn buckets. One of the kewlest things about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is that there are special dining sweets available. Be sure to check in advance where to find them so you are not wasting time after the party begins. You will SO amazed at just how fast the time will go by once it all starts. You don’t want to miss out on something special.

4. Don’t forget to get your pictures with Photo Pass! There are special magic shots available only during the hours of the party including a picture with the Headless Horseman, The Hatbox Ghost,  holding the lantern at the entrance of the Haunted Mansion, a picture with the wagon at the Haunted Mansion, and holding a poision apple over a cauldron. There are also pictures available during the parade holding Halloween signs! We absolutely love the magic shots and the regular pictures as well.

5. End your night with HalloWishes the most magical display of Halloween fireworks ever including the spookiest Disney tunes from our favorite movies. In addition you will not want to miss the Hocus Pocus Villian Spelltacular Stage Show in front of the castle! The three Sanderson Sisters are live and on stage. Hocus Pocus is celebrating thier 25th Anniversary! There is the most awesome cauldron mug that I purchased while I was there with the Hocus Pocus logo and a 25th Anniversary stamp. We love to see Dr. Facilier, Oogie Boogie and Maleficent up close along with many of our favorite villains. In addition, the special effects are endless!

In addition there are unique character meet and greets that you can only find during the party hours, ride effects- like riding Space Mountain the pitch black darkness and even a big dance party with the Monsters, Inc. crowd.  There is so much to do. The best part is sharing the entire night with your family and friends. Going to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is something that will create memories that will last a life time. Night School’s Mary Lynn Rajskub Gives Us the Inside Scoop On the Movie

Interview: Mary Lynn Rajskub Gives Us the Inside Scoop on Universal Pictures Night School

Have you been to the movies lately? There are movies that make us laugh and there are movies that make it hard to stop laughing. Universal Pictures Night School is a definite side splitter when it comes to humor. When the entire theater bursts out in laughter you know the movie is great. Night School is in theaters now and definitely should be on your big screen list for this weekend. Hubby and I had the chance to take in an advance screening the other night and we both thought the movie was hilarious.

After seeing the movie I was honored to have the opportunity to chat with Mary Lynn Rajskub who plays a stay at home mom who is back in night school hoping to pass her GED exam.  During the interview I asked Mary Ellen that aside from the humor if she thought there was a more serious message the viewers would walk away with after seeing Night School. She talked about how there are non-stop jokes, but that there was a great message of personal growth how her character went from being invisible and living a life of responsibility and obligation to blossoming and loving being around people. She discovered that she loved to learn and even communicated that to her husband by the end. Each character in the movie has their own journey  in that way, led by Kevin Hart’s character who doesn’t give up and learns how to learn and how important that was, and I love that! Mary Lynn was not sure if she would be taking her ten year old son to the movie or not. She also stated that although she is not like her character in the movie she is in the respect that she is very reactive although traditional at parenting and uses the stage and stand-up comedy to help her along the way.

So grab your friends this weekend and head to the theater. You will not be disappointed. Everyone needs a little time out to just escape their troubles. This film is sure to take you there. Star Kevin Hart and producer Will Packer, who partnered for the hit Ride Along and Think Like a Man series, bring their signature style to Night School.  The comedy from director Malcolm D. Lee (Girls Trip) follows a group of misfits who are forced to attend adult classes in the longshot chance they’ll pass the GED exam. Rated PG-13 So, what are you waiting for? Everyone needs a second chance, wouldn’t you agree?

Co-stars Tiffany Haddish, Rob Riggle, Taran Killam and Romany Malco join Hart on-screen for the film that Hart produces for his Hartbeat Productions, and Packer via his Will Packer Productions.  www.nightschoolmovie.com

Disney Floral and Gifts Mickey’s Halloween Celebration!

Disney Floral and Gifts Spooktactular Mickey’s Halloween In Room Celebration Is A Must Do For All!

Halloween is hands down one of our family’s favorite holidays. We all love fall and we just love Halloween. Although we are not huge into the gore, we are obsessed with all things spooky friendly. Recently on our venture to Walt Disney World we had the pleasure of attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom. It’s a night that is certainly filled with fun for the family and Magical Spookiness that only Disney can come up with to entertain the entire family.

As if going to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party was not enough to get us into the Halloween spirit when we returned home to our resort room at Disney’s Boardwalk Villas a huge surprise awaited our family. Now, I have to say up front that I knew the surprise was coming, but had no idea exactly what was arriving from Disney Floral and Gifts. So, although I knew, I really didn’t know exactly what to expect. Last year our family was surprised with Mickey’s In Room Celebration and we could not stop talking about it. This year was a surprise beyond my wildest Halloween dreams!

So here goes the story. As our family neared the room Emily was the first one to spot the personalized Halloween door banner. I think right at that moment the family knew what it meant. Could there be a magical surprise behind the door. Considering spooky cobwebs and light up eyes greeted us it was safe to say that we all could not wait to open that door! The video I placed below is our reaction video so please forgive me for the darkness and all of the “reactions” as we made our way through the room. I thought it was a perfect video of finding surprise after surprise! I think you are going to love it!

We opened the door and everyone pretty much gasped! Our room had been transformed into a spooktacular surprise. As we entered the room we could see shadows of Mickey bats on the walls and lanterns illuminating the path adorned by many glittery bats on the floor. We followed them to the table where a cobwebbed flickering candelabra shone over a note from Mickey Mouse himself. He told us to explore the room and have fun discovering all of the surprises he left us. Wow, Mickey! Being huge Haunted Mansion fans, we were thrilled by this sight. It was like we walked into one of the Haunted Mansion rooms! The candelabra was incredible!

(Look at Emily’s face in this picture. I only noticed it later that you can see her in the mirror!!)

Looking around we could see spooky eyes peering at us from the mirrors, but all of us were drawn to the center of the room where a bigger than life sized Mickey Mouse sat in a glow in the dark Boo-sket surrounded by light up necklaces, tattoos and treats! Later we discovered that the basket was also filled with treats galore. But there was more, much more. It’s so hard to describe the feeling that all of this gave us. It was overwhelming. It gave some of us chills just to look around and see cobwebs coming from everywhere. They were even in the kitchen area and draped over the sink making a perfect haunting experience.

My husband called our attention to the couch area. Wow, just wow! There were three Halloween orange blankets personalized with black bats and names! And Haunted Mansion hitchhiking ghost treats all over the place! There was also a personalized Mickey pumpkin Halloween pillowcase for Emily. The poem on it was so adorable and it definitely made for the most magical night’s sleep ever. Emily also noticed the cards that were placed all over. They each had different messages and games on the back. The next day we spent playing them and answering some of the trivia that was part of it.

But that wasn’t the end. There was a chair covered with cobwebs! A little secret I will let you in on is that our family loves Halloween cobwebs! Our living room at home and kitchen get a total cobweb makeover around Halloween time, so this was a big hit with us! The chair was filled with Haunted Mansion themed goodies, tattoos, Glow in the dark Haunted Mansion playing cards, Haunted Mansion candies and a matching second pillowcase for Emily. Lucky Emily! There were also magical potion balloons all over the place!

Now if you think our fun was over, just hold on a few more minutes. The entire experience was  so hard to process. It was also a night I wish I could have just frozen in time. I’m so glad that I have our reaction video to look back on.  As if all of this was not already enough, there were two additional gift baskets that I absolutely loved! One was filled with games and treats, The Ghouls and Ghosts Night In! If you are a Haunted Mansion fan you will definitely want to check this out. It includesd a Disney Parks Haunted Mansion game of Life and game of Clue and treats to enjoy while you play! Beyond incredible! Although I really wanted to leave them unopened until we arrived at home, but somehow the next morning after breakfast we ended up playing both of them!

The second gift basket was my favorite and perfect for hubby and me! I am a total Disney Villains fan every since forever. I have to tell you that when I saw this gift basket I was just about in tears. I had seen it on the Disney Floral and Gifts site and loved it! I was planning to drop a few hints to hubby about maybe surprising me with it someday. BUT there it was right in front of me. It was like someone knew how much I loved  the Disney Villains! A Disney’s Villains Indulgance Gift Basket includes two Disney Villains exclusive stemmed goblets! Enough said? It also has a matted illustration by Disney artist Charles Wissig of all of my favorites and their signatures! ( It’s already hanging up in our house!) Of course there was some bubbly to spill into those incredible goblets and I may have just saved the best for last. The gift set also included a hand made chocolate box adorned with the Disney Villains on top and filled with handmade chocolates inside. Mine! Mine! Mine! I’m rarely selfish and most times my kids and hubby claim all of the surprises, but this time it was something I absolutely would not share! Update- Of course I shared! I really need to get better at the word, No. But, how could I not share. They were so delicious!

If you are heading to the Disney Resorts and looking for the perfect surprise for your family,  your friends, or yourself (because can’t we just sit down and spoil ourselves once in a while?) you definitely need to  visit Disney Floral and Gifts. They have the perfect Halloween Spookiness you are looking for from simple to extravagant. Our In Room Celebration- Mickey’s Halloween Celebration is something your family will talk about for years to come. There are also Halloween gift baskets  and build your own gifts! As for our family. We really felt like we lived a dream, a magical spooktacular experience. Thank you Disney and Floral for the amazing surprise that our family will treasure for years to come. We are starting our home Halloween decorating and will definitely be including some of the magic from Disney Floral and Gifts. What a wonderful wonderful Halloween and family experience!
