Every summer our family spends as much time as we can taking in the summer blockbusters. This year we are definitely looking forward to Earth To ECHO. Coming July 2nd I have a feeling we will be in for a real big screen treat! In Relativity’s PG summer family adventure movie, Tuck, Munch and Alex are a trio of inseparable friends whose lives are about to change. Their neighborhood is being destroyed by a highway construction project that is forcing their families to move away. But just two days before they must part ways, the boys begin receiving a strange series of signals on their phones. Ever year when summer rolls around our family is in search of fun things to do. Since my daughter does not attend any summer camps, the job is mine to find ways to keep her entertained along with a twinge of learning something new. You can’t even imagine how thrilled I was to find out all about ALEX. I’m really not sure how they have not been a part of our lives sooner. Emily decided to try out the ALEX Giant Knot & Stitch Pillow. Now that Em is almost eight years old, we are changing things up this summer and looking for items that are great for her age, tweens and older. She immediately loved all the many pieces that came inside the box. I loved that everything you needed to complete the project was inside the box. We could not wait to get started. When doing this project, I would highly recommend that you get all of the pieces out of the box and become familiar with what you need for each stage. It’s easier to organize at the beginning that try to figure it all out later. The directions for this project were clear and easy for any child to complete alone or with the help of someone. Emily did need guidance when it came to the sewing part, but with help she was able to get the job done by herself and felt pretty proud of what she had accomplished! I was also proud of her, and of myself for helping her to sew with her very first needle and thread. This is a life skill that she will need for the future.

If you are thinking of checking out this ALEX Knot & Stitch Pillow please remember that it will take more that one day to complete for most children. Honestly, it took us a few days between the sewing, stuffing and knotting. By the way, my daughter just loved the knotting. She was able to do this completely alone and just had an awesome time accomplishing each and every knot. As for the design of the pillow- amazing! It’s soft and cuddly, and very fashionable. It features the Love and Hope letters and a Peace and Love sign. Adorable for girls around the eight year old mark and up. When Em completed her first summer project, it was more that just an arts and crafts project that was done, it was a step up in her confidence. She had a ball with it, and I was happy to help her with everything. She cannot wait for our next Summer craft project!
If you are looking for something fun, functional and easy to do(with help) or alone, ALEX has the answer for your summer or any season needs. The kids can unplug and feel good about their accomplishments. As a former twenty year teacher, I would highly recommend ALEX for all of your summer fun needs!

Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain to Arrive June 8

Six Flags Great Adventure will host roller coaster enthusiasts from The Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain during their “Le Monstre Bash” tour June 8. Their annual North America trip will bring 54 of its members to the Jackson theme park to ride 11 adrenaline-pumping roller coasters.

The Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain is a non-profit organization.  Andy Hine, club chairman, founded the group in 1988 as a way for people who shared his passion for roller coasters to come together. Today, the club has grown to include more than 1,200 members from 15 different countries.
Trip attendees will spend two weeks in the U.S. and plan to ride from 80 to 100 different roller coasters along the East Coast and into Canada. According to Hine, members are excited to test the internationally-recognized El Toro, Nitro and Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure. All three, along with Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom which will open soon, recently ranked on USA Today’s top 10 thrill rides list for 2014.

Members recently visited Six Flags Over Georgia outside Atlanta, and will journey to LaRonde in Montreal and more than six other theme parks during their visit.
