Leave it to Disney to come up with something new for theater goers. On September 20th The Little Mermaid can be taken in as a different type of theater experience. Honestly, our family cannot wait to test it out! If it’s something that peaks your interest, you can pack up your ipad or ipad mini and head to the theater. I will let you know how it goes. We are going to check it out on Friday night! 
The Walt Disney Studios invites animation fans to experience a classic film like never before with a new interactive theatrical event for the whole family: “Second Screen Live: The Little Mermaid.”


Beginning September 20, this beloved musical adventure returns to select theaters for a special limited engagement, only this time viewers are encouraged to become a part of the story. This unique engagement marks the debut of Disney Second Screen Live, a new second-screen technology that allows audiences to engage with the film, each other and their fellow audience members.

By simply downloading the free “Second Screen Live: The Little Mermaid App” to an Apple iPad or iPad mini and bringing their Mermaid-loaded devices to participating theaters, fans and families can interact with the film, play games, find hidden treasure, sing along, and compete with the audience for the chance to win great prizes! My daughter, Emily, has been a Bitty Baby fan since before she could even walk. In her stroller we would browse the bitty baby floor of the American Girl Store, NYC and she would grab out at them. It was definitely love at first sight. Now that she is six years old there is quite a collection of Bitty Baby goods throughout our house. I cannot lie, when Em heard that there were new Bitty Babies coming out she was a little bit upset. Of course, after checking out the AmericanGirl.com site to see the eleven new choices she was more than thrilled about it! She looked and looked at all the choices, which now include many more choices in hair, skin and eye color. There is even a baby with red hair! I know quite a few girls will be thrilled about that.

Well, after intense website study, Emily chose the Bitty Baby that most resembled her as a baby, light skinned, brown hair, green eyes. She does not realize but she was just about the size of a Bitty Baby when she was born at just a teeny 5lbs.

Emily could not wait for the box to arrive in the mail. It was not long before it was at our doorstep and opened immediately! As a mom, I always take that deep breath and wonder if she would like her new doll or play with her for five minutes and toss it to the side. I think she loved the new Bitty Baby before we even unboxed her! Thanks for adding a little more love into my daughter’s live, American Girl!

As we unboxed this new treasure, we were both wondering exactly what was new and different about this little baby. The first thing we realized was that the book was so much bigger and hard covered. Yes! Both of us loved this immediately. The story, Bitty Baby and Me is adorable and we have read it over and over and over! Another change is the Wishing Star that comes with every new Bitty Baby. Everyone loves to make a wish, right?

“Make a wish to be your best. Your inner Star will do the rest!”. As a mom, I just adore this special wish saying. The Bitty Baby comes dressed in a pajamas with the same little wishing star scattered over the them. She also comes wearing her very own cloth diaper. Fire Me Up! Studio, a new studio opening in Cranford, will offer paint-your-own pottery, glass fusing, clay hand-building projects and host art classes and workshops. The studio will also feature Ladies Night and Tween Nights and host open studio hours for walk-in customers and even personalized events and parties.

On Saturday, September 21st from 10am to 12pm, Fire Me Up! will have a Grand Opening Party open to the public and will allow families to tour the space and create a small piece of artwork. Balloon artists, Face Painting, Drinks and Treats will be served.

On Thursday, September 26th from 7-9pm, Fire Me Up! will host an Adults-Only Grand Opening event offering Mini Chair Massages by Elements Therapeutic Spa in Cranford, a Wine tasting, and Lite bites.
