Kids’ Night On Broadway Dates Announced! Take Your Child To A Broadway Show For FREE!! #Broadway #NYC

Kids’ Night On Broadway 2014

If you live in an area like NYC where Broadway is just a part of life you will not be able to resist a certain time of year. We know it around here as KNOB14 (Kids’ Night On Broadway). Two of my three children had their first Broadway show experience through Kids’ Night On Broadway. I cannot help but share the news with everyone. If you have been staying away from Broadway with the kids because it is too expensive this is perfect. With every Broadway ticket you buy for an adult, you get one free ticket for a child! Yes, please! Who can resist a free ticket? The best part is that there are ALL types of tickets available. You don’t have to purchase 1st row tickets in order to get a free one. There is something in everyone’s price range. In addition to the child goes free perk, there are numerous activities for children, and big discounts on food in the area restaurants. Kids’ Night on Broadway is a wonderful way to introduce your child to Broadway or to make a family tradition of attending one Broadway show a year. If you are thinking about taking your to child out for a night they will never forget, don’t let this pass you by. Just as a little tip, do not hesitate when the tickets go up for sale. They do NOT last long. Sometimes they add additional tickets, sometimes they don’t. The kickoff for Kids’ Night On Broadway is right here in NYC! Check the site below for more details. If you join the Broadwayfanclub.com you can get in on the sale early! It’s free to join with your email address and I highly suggest it for the best ticket choices! See you on Broadway!

The Broadway League announced today that the dates for 2014 KIDS’ NIGHT ON BROADWAY® will be from Monday, February 24, 2014 to Sunday, March 2, 2014. Tickets to participating shows will be available to the public on Wednesday, January 8th, 2014. Theatre fans who join The Broadway Fan Club at BroadwayFanclub.com are eligible for special pre-sale opportunities.
KIDS’ NIGHT ON BROADWAY is when kids ages 6 to 18 can see participating Broadway shows for free when accompanied by a full-paying adult. A KIDS’ NIGHT ON BROADWAY ticket includes pre-theatre activities, restaurant discounts, parking discounts, educational programs, and more.
The 18th annual KIDS’ NIGHT ON BROADWAY will kick off in New York City.

KIDS’ NIGHT ON BROADWAY will also take place in multiple cities around the country, with different shows and venues putting their own spin on the event, on numerous dates throughout the year. Check kidsnightonbroadway.com for specific dates and locations.

48 Hours: “Loved to Death”

On Saturday October 26 at 10 PM, CBS will be airing a 48 Hours report on dating and breakup violence among teenagers, specifically focusing on the case of Lauren Astley, who was murdered by her boyfriend Nathaniel Fujita in 2011. I had the opportunity to attend a special pre-screening and talk about the broadcast with CBS correspondent Tracy Smith, 48 Hours executive producer Susan Zirinsky, Casey Corcoran of Futures Without Violence, and Malcolm Astley, Lauren’s father.

The special and the talk center around not only Lauren Astley, who tragically lost her life while secretly meeting up with her ex-boyfriend to see how he was coping with the breakup, but with the larger issue of breakup violence and violent relationships in our society. Key among the discussion of this issue are two things: knowing the signs of a violent relationship, and acting upon that information.

“It’s very difficult to separate normal behavior from something that’s going to go over the edge,” said Zirinsky, of teen relationships in particular. “Adults haven’t taken this seriously,” Smith added, claiming that most people brush some of the more subtle, emotional signs of an unhealthy relationship off as simply “teen drama,” when they may actually be the indicators of something deadly. Education about this sort of thing isn’t just important for parents, however– teens, as well, tend to be the mediators among their friends before adults even know about the situation. For that reason, education about relationships “needs to start from the beginning,” according to Malcolm Astley, who now travels to schols and rallies advocating for awareness of the issue. An ally in his cause is Corcoran, who uses a platform of “the birds, the bees, and the butterflies” (i.e. adding a discussion about relationship safety to the standard discussion of sexuality) to stress the importance of talking with children about healthy relationships.

Breakup and dating violence is an important issue, one that affects everyone in one way or another. To find out more, be sure to check out 48 Hours: “Loved to Death,” on CBS Saturday, October 26, at 10PM.

What’s In Your Halloween Bucket? HERSHEYS Is In Ours! #celebratewithhersheys

What’s In Your Halloween Bucket?
 HERSHEYS Is In Ours!
#celebratewithhersheys
Ever year when Halloween rolls around the big question in our house is what will be in our own Halloween buckets! Although the kids trick-or-treat, we do give out candy and also send goody bags to school. I
was thrilled to find out that HERSHEYS had some new options this year, ALL of them delicious!
These Snack Size Rolo are awesome! Everyone in our house is
a Rolo fan, so there were no complaints! I’m sure the little monsters
that appear at our door will love them as well.
These new Jolly Rancher candies were amazing! They are crunchy on the
outside and chewy in the middle! What a win!
Of course the entire family agrees that Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkins are
a family favorite. These are gone as soon as they arrive!
Never any leftovers!
The Jolly Rancher Caramel Apple lollipops were
Emily’s favorite. As she put it, it’s like a candy apple on a stick,
but mini, and easier to carry!
The Cadbury Screme Egg is hubby’s favorite.
If you like Gooooooey, you’ll love this!
Disclosure: Thanks HERSHEYS for making our Halloween just a little bit sweeter!

#BrickOrTreat At Legoland Discovery Center Westchester #NY #NYC @LDCwestchester

The Headless Horseman Was Recently Spotted At #BrickOrTreat At Legoland Discovery Center Westchester
Also #WIN a 4Pack of Annual Passes
Two of our family favorites have to be Legos and Halloween, but combining the two- I just knew it had to be a big win! Recently we visited Legoland Discovery Center for Star Wars Weekend and then again for Brick or Treat. In celebration of Halloween, the attraction’s spook-tacular Brick-or-Treat event, which runs until Thursday, October 31st, offers discounts for children (and adults!) wearing costumes and invites children to brick-or-treat for LEGO bricks around the Center and collect enough bricks to create a special jack-o-lantern figure (while supplies last) to take home.
In addition, guests can create their own LEGO® monsters to populate Monster Town, as well as learn how to build of a LEGO scarecrow at the LEGO Master Builder Academy. There is also a special MINILAND scavenger hunt for hidden monsters to win a family four-pack of Annual passes.
If you have never visited Legoland Discovery Center try to arrive early. It does tend to get very busy, which is a good sign, right? It means that a lot of people love it!
