Calling All Gamers. Our Nintendo Kid Reviewers Gift Guide!

Nintendogiftguide8Calling all gamers. Our Nintendo Kid Reviewers have the scoop on the kewlest games and amiibo this holiday season. Recently our family was treated to day of holiday shopping at Nintendo World NYC to check out all the latest gaming goods. It’s kind of one stop shopping for us! Having two game reviewers in the house means double the fun! So here go the picks. If you are a gamer or have kids that love to game we have you covered.

The kids love the amiibo figures. Our house is filled with them and I do not see and end in sight! Some of our favorites are Animal Crossing, Yarn Yoshi, Mario, Splatoon and more. They are so much fun to add to the gaming experience. For non gamers, an amiibo is a character figure (or a card) that gives you in-game extras in a wide variety of games for Nintendo systems. One figure might unlock a new character in one game, give you a new costume in another, and a power-up in yet another! Some of them can even battle with or against you in Super Smash Bros! They are a lot of fun to play with, and my children love using them in their Nintendo games, both on the Wii U and 3DS! I may even be a little bit obsessed with them myself!

From Super Mario Maker, Skylanders SuperChargers,  Super Smash Brothers, Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival to Splatoon, there are so many choices and you just cannot choose wrong! The best part of all, GIRLS love to game, too! Until Emily came along, I viewed gaming as a boy thing. I could not be more wrong. My daughter loves gaming and really can put her brothers to the test in games like Super Smash Bros. and Splatoon. So if you are shopping for a boy or girl this Christmas, you need to look no farther than http://happyholidays.nintendo.com/ If you are not sure what game to buy, a gift card is always a great choice and will be just as welcome.

Skylanders: SuperChargers Racing for the Nintendo 3DS #Nintendo

Skylanders: SuperChargers Racing for the Nintendo 3DS

skylanders3ds2Being a Nintendo Kid Reviewer definitely has its perks. It’s great being able to check out new games. Recently, I had the opportunity to try out the all-new Skylanders: SuperChargers Racing for the Nintendo 3DS. The game takes classic kart-racing action, and blends it together with the Skylanders universe we have all come to know and love! The game is jam-packed with a bunch of awesome levels, and you can use all the Skylanders you already own in the game!

skylanders3dsI have been a Nintendo fan all my life, and I was very happy when it was announced at E3 thatHammer Slam Bowser was coming exclusively to Nintendo platforms! Hammer Slam Bowser is both an Amiibo, and a Skylander figure, with a little switch on the bottom that sets whether it is in Skylander or Amiibo mode. The Nintendo 3DS version of Skylanders: SuperChargers Racing comes with 2 SuperChargers– Super Shot Stealth Elf, Hammer Slam Bowser, and Bowser’s Clown Cruiser vehicle.

Skylanders: SuperChargers Racing is an incredible game. All the tracks are extremely enjoyable and varied. Throughout the races, players will drive on the roads in their land vehicles, fly high in the air in their sky vehicles, or dive deep into the water in their sea vehicles. Skylanders: SuperChargers Racing is a refreshing and new take on the racing game genre, and it is definitely a title that everyone can pick up and play. Skylanders: SuperChargers Racing is a must-have for all racing game fans, and is one of my personal favorites on the Nintendo 3DS.

Nintendo and Fun go hand in hand in our house. So with Halloween so close we had to share some fun things going on at PlayNintendo.com  You can find something for everyone. Whether or not you should dress up in Goron Garb or a Big Bomb Outfit in the LoZ: Tri Force Heroes poll (one is particularly great if you are traversing lava in your neighborhood). Can you imagine what happens if you decide to trick-or-treat at Bowser’s house in the Mushroom Kingdom trivia quiz (he may have a fiery treat in store). You can find ways to create spooky rooms in Animal Crossing: HHD (spoiler alert: dinosaur skeletons and cauldrons are so in right now). We are totally in!

While you are on the site check out Why Terror Time is, well, terrifying in YO-KAI WATCH! Also check out how to make sure your pumpkin lets trick-or-treaters know your house is a “Nintendo house”! I”m sure this one will be a biggie in our house. There are some great prank ideas from Jack, such as how to weird out your neighbors and convince people you have a shrink ray. There are fun ways to disguise yourself as Mario (right down to your fingernails).

So if you are a Nintendo family like we are you definitely want to check out all the fun things Play Nintendo has in store for you! Happy Nintendo Halloween!
