New York Theatre Ballet Presents One-Hour Sleeping Beauty May 14 & 15

Looking for a perfect family ballet experience?
New York Theater Ballet
Presents
Sleeping Beauty
May 14 & 15
When it comes to ballet, my 4 year old daughter, Emily, cannot seem to get enough. Finding the right experience for her age seemed impossible at one point, until I came across New York Theatre Ballet. This 70 minute performance is perfectly timed to hold the attention of the audience of  children aged 3-12 and their families.
During the Christmas season,
we enjoyed The Nutcracker and it was beautifully done.
The costumes and scenery were breathtaking. Not to mention, there was not a bad seat in the house.
What I love most about the
New York Theatre Ballet is how child friendly,
yet professional the experience is for the entire family.
If you have a chance to take in
 Sleeping Beauty, don’t miss out.
See You At The Ballet!

Before the show Artistic Director Diana Byer will spend a few minutes with a short, interactive lesson on the art of mime in story ballets.
Choreographed by James Sutton, the ballet delivers the magic of Princess Aurora’s 16th birthday, the mystery of the enchanted spell, the magnificence of the wedding, and a perfect storybook happy ending.  The story unfolds when Princess Aurora is bewitched by the evil Carabosse, then the benevolent Lilac Fairy places the princess and her kingdom into a deep, protective sleep.  She awakens when the noble Prince breaks the spell with a kiss.
Mr. Sutton is a Master Teacher of Dance (Ballet) at the Tisch School of the Arts, and has taught dance at Juilliard, the University of Wisconsin, the Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Ballet Hispanico of New York, and other significant schools and venues around the world.  His choreographic commissions include the Dallas Opera and the Goodspeed Opera House in Connecticut.  Mr. Sutton has appeared as principal dancer with Houston Ballet, Chicago Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Milwaukee Ballet and DANCERS.  He is also a contributing writer for Ballet Review.
Based on the original Sleeping Beauty by Russian choreographer Marius Petipa, New York Theatre Ballet’s one-hour version is danced to music by Peter Tchaikovsky.  The elegant costumes were designed by Metropolitan Opera costume designerSylvia Taalsohn Nolan.  The setting – a tiny, fanciful fairy kingdom situated beneath the roots of a giant tree – was conceived and created by set designer Gillian Bradshaw-Smith.

Special Thanks to New York theatre ballet.

Sesame Place Opens April 30th for the 2011 Season!

Sesame Place
in Langhorne, Pa
Opens April 30th for it’s
2011 Season!
Will you be there?

Sesame Place opens on Saturday, April 30th for it’s 2011 Season! Since my oldest son is 20 and my youngest daughter is 4, we have been season pass holders of Sesame Place for many years. Every year the park just seems to get better and better. You would think after being passholders for that long, it might get a little boring, but, it’s just the opposite. Every year our family looks forward to Opening Day!

It’s so much fun to check out all the latest additions to the park.
This year we can’t wait to try out the newest ride,
Elmo’s Cloud Chaser!
Wow! I will definitely let you know how it goes!
As far as characters go, I can remember when there were only a few. Now it seems like any time you look, you can see a Sesame Street character walking by, in a show, or stationed for a meet and greet. This year it will be wonderful to meet the new addition- Murray.
I wonder what the word on the street will be the day we visit!
One of the most fun events when we visit Sesame Place is watching the parade. This year will be really exciting, especially getting ready to see the “Neighborhood Street Party” for the first time! The thought of new music, floats, and even a night parade really has our family ready for Opening Day!
See you there!

The Martha Stewart Show 1000th Show Celebration!

The Martha Stewart Show
1000th Show Celebration

About a month ago I was pleasantly surprised to get
 an email inviting me to
Tweet LIVE from
Martha Stewart’s 1000th Show Celebration.
I would be one of ten ladies in the Twitter section for the show.
I could hardly wait for the big day to arrive. I spent the days leading up to the show making sure that I had just the right shoes, earrings, and outfit. I also had a serious guard on my DroidX making sure it was well rested and ready to tweet away at the show.
The 1000th show went live on April 20 – 10 am EST/ on the Hallmark Channel.

I had to arrive at the Chelsea Television Studios, 221 W. 26th Street, NYC by 8:30 am. The fun began right away chatting with other excited people who were waiting to check in for the show. Everyone was buzzing about the 1000th show! The Martha fans could not stop   talking  about favorite Martha moments speculate on what exactly would take place during the show. One thing was clear, everyone was as thrilled as I was to be there and to be part of the 1000th show. The check in went very smoothly and the pre-show area was extremely hospitable, offering a seat to everyone and some bottled water. The crew at the Martha Stewart Show could not have been any more polite. The show did not even begin and I was already having a great time!
The Twitter Audience was called up and given some great name tags, complete with their Twitter names and escorted into the studio. We were placed front and center for optimal viewing. Everyone was in awe of the 1000 photo collage and the unique set.  The rest of the studio filled up in no time and it was almost show time. Wow!

At 10 am The Martha Stewart Show 1000th Celebration began. The energy in the audience was electric as Martha entered the room. She even was greeted with a well deserved standing ovation! The tweeting began immediately and the first guest arrived. Seth Meyers from Saturday Night Live had the honor of topping off the 1000 cupcake tower from with a giant cupcake display from Billy’s Bakery NYC.
Martha was nice enough to share with the audience! The beauty of the cupcakes matched the taste without a doubt!.Seth Meyers kept us all entertained with his wit and even had a little gift for Martha.
Other show highlights were a segment with Mario Batali, the chef with the most appearances on The Martha Stewart Show. Asparagus and ricotta ravioli never looked so good!

The 1000th Show Celebration was a trail of endless fun! Vitamix was represented and the audience roared with the announcement that everyone in the house would be going home with one, valued at almost $500. What a special day! The show was wonderful. The Twitter Section rocked and Martha Stewart was just darling.
Happy 1000th Show, Martha Stewart!
Here’s to 1000 more!
