Toys R Us Times Square NYC

Toys R Us Times Square NYC
Looking for a fun place to visit?
Most of us at one time or another have been to Toys R Us. If you are a family with children or grandchildren you are probably a frequent visitor, but you have never seen a Toys R Us like the one at Times Square NYC.
The store is impressive before you even enter it, with its outside “well-lit eye-catching” billboard above the huge revolving doors that lead you inside. Once inside you are immediately drawn to the enormous indoor ferris wheel that goes from the bottom floor all the way to the top! It has cars on it with everything you can think of from Mr. Potato Head to Cabbage Patch Dolls, Monopoly and so on! There is a car for everyone’s taste.
As you venture upstairs be prepared to face some “larger than life” friends on display. You won’t find these in your ordinary Toys R Us.
You can say hello to the T-Rex that almost touches the ceiling, a Giant Transformer, many Lego displays and more things then you can ever imagine. Boys can have a lot of fun in these sections filled with adventure!(girls enjoy it,too)
My daughter’s favorite part of Toys R Us Times Square is the Barbie section or as she calls it, “Barbie World”. I would have to agree with her. You can have a lot of shopping fun in Barbie’s 4000 sq. ft. dollhouse! I think you can find every Barbie and accessory made for Barbie. There are two floors of Barbie fun! If you are not into Barbie, you can still enjoy many choices like: Cabbage Patch dolls, Disney Princess, Polly Pocket and more.
If you are starting to get a little rumbly for some candy, don’t worry. There is a complete CandyLand themed section filled with “too many” candy choices! If you can’t find what you are looking for there, you have a second shot at it by visiting the Wonka World Candy Section or Scoops R Us for some yummy ice cream!
Don’t leave the store without saying hello to Geoffrey and even taking home a picture if you would like! Toys R Us Times Square is a fun place to shop or just to visit! If you are in NYC or the Times Square area, don’t pass by Toys R Us. You won’t believe what is inside!

Cake Boss- A Visit To Carlo’s Bakery

Cake Boss-A Visit To Carlo’s Bakery

By now, almost everyone has heard of Buddy, The Cake Boss, or has had the chance to see his show on TLC. Since we are not far from the actual bakery, our family decided to take a trip, the first of many trips to Carlo’s Bakery-located in Hoboken, NJ.

It’s tough to go to Carlo’s without waiting in a line, but if you can get there during the week it’s not too bad. Expect to stand in a line that wraps around the corner if you visit on the weekend(of course it’s worth the wait).

Once you are inside of Carlo’s Bakery, do not worry about being rushed. The people inside could not be nicer. It is good to have an idea of what you want before you enter though, because all the delicious choices are endless!

Personally, our family went in to buy a cake and ended up with the cake, cookies, coffee cake, bread, coffee and other goodies. The scent of fresh cake and cookies is very overwhelming, so be prepared.

If you are there to order a specialty cake for a wedding, birthday, shower or any other occasion, there is a special area to sit at(same one they use in the show) and a book with endless examples of cakes for every occasion. Emily looked through the book a few times and was ready to put her order in for ten different cakes! I’m sure we will be back in the future to order a special occasion cake from Carlo’s Bakery.

Another fun thing about visiting Carlo’s Bakery is that since it is family run, you will always see someone from the show working there. In the times we have gone, we have met a few of Buddy’s sisters, Little Buddy, Buddy’s mom, Frankie and his brother! They are great about photos and

always greet you with a smile!

There is also merchandise from the show available for purchase right inside the bakery.
If you are visiting the NYC area, or NJ you are in the Carlo’s Bakery area. Don’t miss your

chance to meet the Cake Boss gang and sample some of the yummies that Buddy has to offer!

Great Wolf Lodge Poconos Stay-N-Tube Camelback

Stay-N-Tube Camelback

Great Wolf Lodge Poconos Stay-N-Tube Camelback

Every winter my family loves to devote one day to snowtubing. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Great Wolf Lodge Poconos combined with Camelback Ski Resort and offer a snowtubing amd ski package. The morning of our trip we swung by the GWL and picked up our tickets for snowtubing. We headed over to Camelback Ski Resort which was about 2 miles away from the lodge. Exchanging the tickets for our 3 hours snowtubing passes went on without a hitch and before you knew it the kids were in tubes and slip-sliding down the snowy mountain.

After snowtubing for 3 hours we warmed up with some nice hot cocoa as we sat around the fire pit. There is also a convenient cafe/bathroom right next to the snowtubing lanes for easy access.
It wasn’t long before we were back in our Kid’s Cabin Suite at the Great Wolf Lodge and getting ready for the waterpark. Snowtubing and Waterpark in one day! What else could you ask for?

 Great Wolf Lodge Poconos

Recently my family took a trip to Great Wolf Lodge Poconos. It’s only a little over an hour from the NYC area, but a world away. Since our three children go from teenage to preschool, it’s hard sometimes to find a resort that will keep everyone happy, but at Great Wolf Lodge we never have that problem.

It’s always gives you a cozy feeling driving up to the  big cabin looking resort and entering the grand lobby. As soon as we arrived the kids could not wait to check out the room. There are many types of rooms to accommodate your family size and liking. Our family favorite is the Kid Cabin Suite, complete with bunk beds and an extra bed (for our three children). The room also has a pull out couch and a queen size bed. There is even a fireplace to keep you warm! All rooms have a refrigerator and microwave,

so you don’t have to worry about bringing along some goodies or drinks!

After checking out the room, we headed directly to the waterpark. Wow! It was hard to imagine that we passed by mounds of snow on the way into the lodge, since the

waterpark was a warm 84 degrees! The guys headed for the new Double Barrel Drop water slide and Emily and I grabbed a tube and went over to the wave pool, followed by the mini water slides that were just her size! When the guys were done with all the waterslides we met up in the lazy river and then played a little water basketball. It was great family fun!

When dinner time rolled around we feasted at the Loose Moose Cafe on an endess buffet from seafood and steak to soft serve ice-cream. During the meal our waitress even surprised us with some wolf ears to wear! It was a real Howl!!

After dinner the kids each chose a wand and topper and headed into the hallways to play “MagiQuest”. The game takes a while to complete if you want to fight the dragon, so be prepared to leave at least 2 hours open if you are going to play!

By 8pm Em was in her pjs along with a bunch of children who were  all ready for the lobby show at the clock tower, followed by storytime with Wiley and a meet and greet! Right after story time we made a stop at AnimalLand, the stuffed animal making station. We now have a wolf, panda, and poodle as additions to our family. Soon after, everyone headed back to the room for some more family  fun and a great night’s sleep!

In the morning we were awoken by Emily’s head peeking out of the Kid’s Cabin and announcing it was time to go back to the waterpark. So, we followed her lead, stopped for breakfast first and then back to the waterpark for a few hours!Emily wanted to enjoy Scoops Children’s Spa, but there were no appointments. We will have to call sooner next time. The boys checked out Gr8 Space(a teenage hangout) and the Race Zone (where you can build your own car and then race it). We made one last stop at the Northern Lights arcade for just a little bit more fun!  I cannot imagine anyone not enjoying their stay at the Great Wolf Lodge! We are looking forward to our next trip already. There is only one problem I could find about Great Wolf Lodge….having to leave it!

Medieval Times Birthday!

Medieval Times Birthday!

Yesterday was Adam’s 11th birthday and our family decided to go to Medieval Times in Lyndhurst, NJ to celebrate! I have not been there in over 15 years! It was a pleasant surprise that things were as great as the last time I visited! Before going on the trip I checked out the website. I noticed that the little girls wore costumes, so I brought along Emily’s princess costume and crown. I was glad I did, since there were quite a few children and adults dressed up for the occasion! We purchased the birthday package, so Adam was given a birthday crown.
Medieval Times is a dinner show. The guests are broken down into color teams that match their knight. Our knight was Yellow. He did not win, but we had fun cheering for him. Emily was thrilled because he threw he kissed a flower and then threw it to her! Cute. Adam’s name was announced for his birthday and he was part of a “birthday knighting” ceremony. He was also given cake with a candle in it, so we could sing to him. It was a fun day for everyone and a great birthday memory for Adam!
