Disney Floral and Gifts Mickey’s Halloween Celebration!

Disney Floral and Gifts Spooktactular Mickey’s Halloween In Room Celebration Is A Must Do For All!

Halloween is hands down one of our family’s favorite holidays. We all love fall and we just love Halloween. Although we are not huge into the gore, we are obsessed with all things spooky friendly. Recently on our venture to Walt Disney World we had the pleasure of attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom. It’s a night that is certainly filled with fun for the family and Magical Spookiness that only Disney can come up with to entertain the entire family.

As if going to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party was not enough to get us into the Halloween spirit when we returned home to our resort room at Disney’s Boardwalk Villas a huge surprise awaited our family. Now, I have to say up front that I knew the surprise was coming, but had no idea exactly what was arriving from Disney Floral and Gifts. So, although I knew, I really didn’t know exactly what to expect. Last year our family was surprised with Mickey’s In Room Celebration and we could not stop talking about it. This year was a surprise beyond my wildest Halloween dreams!

So here goes the story. As our family neared the room Emily was the first one to spot the personalized Halloween door banner. I think right at that moment the family knew what it meant. Could there be a magical surprise behind the door. Considering spooky cobwebs and light up eyes greeted us it was safe to say that we all could not wait to open that door! The video I placed below is our reaction video so please forgive me for the darkness and all of the “reactions” as we made our way through the room. I thought it was a perfect video of finding surprise after surprise! I think you are going to love it!

We opened the door and everyone pretty much gasped! Our room had been transformed into a spooktacular surprise. As we entered the room we could see shadows of Mickey bats on the walls and lanterns illuminating the path adorned by many glittery bats on the floor. We followed them to the table where a cobwebbed flickering candelabra shone over a note from Mickey Mouse himself. He told us to explore the room and have fun discovering all of the surprises he left us. Wow, Mickey! Being huge Haunted Mansion fans, we were thrilled by this sight. It was like we walked into one of the Haunted Mansion rooms! The candelabra was incredible!

(Look at Emily’s face in this picture. I only noticed it later that you can see her in the mirror!!)

Looking around we could see spooky eyes peering at us from the mirrors, but all of us were drawn to the center of the room where a bigger than life sized Mickey Mouse sat in a glow in the dark Boo-sket surrounded by light up necklaces, tattoos and treats! Later we discovered that the basket was also filled with treats galore. But there was more, much more. It’s so hard to describe the feeling that all of this gave us. It was overwhelming. It gave some of us chills just to look around and see cobwebs coming from everywhere. They were even in the kitchen area and draped over the sink making a perfect haunting experience.

My husband called our attention to the couch area. Wow, just wow! There were three Halloween orange blankets personalized with black bats and names! And Haunted Mansion hitchhiking ghost treats all over the place! There was also a personalized Mickey pumpkin Halloween pillowcase for Emily. The poem on it was so adorable and it definitely made for the most magical night’s sleep ever. Emily also noticed the cards that were placed all over. They each had different messages and games on the back. The next day we spent playing them and answering some of the trivia that was part of it.

But that wasn’t the end. There was a chair covered with cobwebs! A little secret I will let you in on is that our family loves Halloween cobwebs! Our living room at home and kitchen get a total cobweb makeover around Halloween time, so this was a big hit with us! The chair was filled with Haunted Mansion themed goodies, tattoos, Glow in the dark Haunted Mansion playing cards, Haunted Mansion candies and a matching second pillowcase for Emily. Lucky Emily! There were also magical potion balloons all over the place!

Now if you think our fun was over, just hold on a few more minutes. The entire experience was  so hard to process. It was also a night I wish I could have just frozen in time. I’m so glad that I have our reaction video to look back on.  As if all of this was not already enough, there were two additional gift baskets that I absolutely loved! One was filled with games and treats, The Ghouls and Ghosts Night In! If you are a Haunted Mansion fan you will definitely want to check this out. It includesd a Disney Parks Haunted Mansion game of Life and game of Clue and treats to enjoy while you play! Beyond incredible! Although I really wanted to leave them unopened until we arrived at home, but somehow the next morning after breakfast we ended up playing both of them!

The second gift basket was my favorite and perfect for hubby and me! I am a total Disney Villains fan every since forever. I have to tell you that when I saw this gift basket I was just about in tears. I had seen it on the Disney Floral and Gifts site and loved it! I was planning to drop a few hints to hubby about maybe surprising me with it someday. BUT there it was right in front of me. It was like someone knew how much I loved  the Disney Villains! A Disney’s Villains Indulgance Gift Basket includes two Disney Villains exclusive stemmed goblets! Enough said? It also has a matted illustration by Disney artist Charles Wissig of all of my favorites and their signatures! ( It’s already hanging up in our house!) Of course there was some bubbly to spill into those incredible goblets and I may have just saved the best for last. The gift set also included a hand made chocolate box adorned with the Disney Villains on top and filled with handmade chocolates inside. Mine! Mine! Mine! I’m rarely selfish and most times my kids and hubby claim all of the surprises, but this time it was something I absolutely would not share! Update- Of course I shared! I really need to get better at the word, No. But, how could I not share. They were so delicious!

If you are heading to the Disney Resorts and looking for the perfect surprise for your family,  your friends, or yourself (because can’t we just sit down and spoil ourselves once in a while?) you definitely need to  visit Disney Floral and Gifts. They have the perfect Halloween Spookiness you are looking for from simple to extravagant. Our In Room Celebration- Mickey’s Halloween Celebration is something your family will talk about for years to come. There are also Halloween gift baskets  and build your own gifts! As for our family. We really felt like we lived a dream, a magical spooktacular experience. Thank you Disney and Floral for the amazing surprise that our family will treasure for years to come. We are starting our home Halloween decorating and will definitely be including some of the magic from Disney Floral and Gifts. What a wonderful wonderful Halloween and family experience!

Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation- In Theaters Now!

Sony Animation’s Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation In Theaters Now!

hotelt3v

Sony Animation’s Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation is going to make your summer just a little bit better. It’s in theaters now so be sure not to miss it! It’s hilarious to see on the big screen! Recently our family was inviting to see the movie and we absolutely loved it! Let’s face it, the kids ALWAYS like the movie, so to me it’s more about how the PARENTS enjoy it. Let me tell you that the adults in the audience were laughing. There were some really funny parts that parents will think are extra funny!

HotelT3poster

In case you are wondering you do NOT have to have seen Hotel Transylvania 1 or 2 in order to enjoy Hotel Transylvania 3 Summer Vacation. My hubby and sons did not see the first two and my daughter and I did, it did not make one bit of difference in understanding or enjoying the movie. Hotel Transylvania 3 Summer Vacation had our favorite monster family leaving the toils of their own hotel to REST and relax on a luxury monster cruise ship. Mavis (Drac’s daughter) sets up the entire trip so that her Dad can get a much needed rest and just chill without thinking about work and the hotel.

Our family just took a cruise earlier this year so the movie was especially funny to us to watch as the monsters take over the ship. Watching the monsters work on their moon tans while others munch at the buffet table, it’s just filled with fun. But of course it’s not all fun. Drac falls hard for the ship’s captain, Ericka! She is pure evil although she comes across as a dream come true and Drac’s next Zing! Without giving away any spoilers let me just tell you that Ericka has another motive than love when it comes to wooing Drac and it’s something that could destroy all of monsterkind as we know them!

What happens next? You will have to head over to the theater to see just how it all plays out! For more information and tickets for Hotel Transylvania 3 Summer Vacation click here.

Hershey Park This Summer! A Pennsylvania Must Do!

Hershey Park This Summer! Two New Water Rides To Enjoy! A Pennsylvania Must Do!

HersheyEmmContest

One thing I love about visiting Hershey Park in Hershey, PA is that there is always something new to enjoy. This summer when you visit there are two new water rides at The Boardwalk, a waterpark located within Hershey Park. We tried them both and they were equally amazing although the majority of the family did choose Whitecap Racer over Breakers Edge Water Coaster.

Whitecap Racer is Hershey Park’s very first rafting mat race water ride. It is also touted as the world’s longest mat coaster. The water ride has six people racing on mats down individually colored lanes and has a start and finish line. There are even two sets of looping tunnels! The ride records your time and keeps track of your time in order to rank you for 1st Place to 6th Place. I won’t tell you what place I came in, but my sons did come in 1st and 2nd Place!

Breakers Edge Water Coaster is the first hydromagnetic water coaster and has people go in a four person raft. This is great for a family or friends that want to ride together! It’s filled with thrills. There is also plenty more to do at The Boardwalk inside of Hershey Park. We love the wave pool (The Shore) and the lazy river (Intercoastal Waterway). Choices! Choices! Check out all of The Boardwalk by clicking here! There are also have a beautiful cabana packages you can rent if that is your thing.

When it comes to rides my family is definitely in the thrill seeker category. Hubby and my sons love coasters. I love them, too but most times I am hanging out with Emm on the sidelines. There are a slue of coasters at Hershey Park and really it would be tough to choose a favorite, maybe Fahrenheit!?! There are so many, okay, top three- Fahrenheit, Sidewinder and of course, The Comet!  We do love there are family rides as well that we can all do together. Our family favorites are Reese’s Extreme Cup Challenge, The Twin Turnpike and The Scrambler! You can check out all of the family friendly rides by clicking here!

All of the rides at Hershey Park are categorized by candy names. You can check out what category your child can ride before even entering the park so you are well prepared. The youngest children can enjoy any ride tagged with Hershey’s Miniatures. Children a little older (and taller) are tagged as Hershey’s Kisses. Children 42 to 48 inches are in the Reese’s category. 48 to 54 inches is the Hershey Bar category and can basically ride just about anything. The last two are Twizzlers (54-60 inch) and Jolly Rancher (60 inches and taller). You can also stop by guest relations at the top of the hill once you enter Hershey Park and have your children measured and given a wristband so they do not have to be measured at each ride. There are also Children’s wristbands available that have your family information on them in case you are separated from your child during your day at Hershey Park! I would recommend getting both wristbands on the way in. You can never be too careful! There is something for everyone at Hershey Park! You can check out all of the height restrictions and find out more about the rides by clicking here.

When you do visit Hershey Park make sure you leave enough time for a stop at Hershey’s Chocolate World located just before you enter Hershey Park. Hershey’s Chocolate World is a free to enter attraction filled with a bigger than life candy store, dining, a bakery, Make Your Own Chocolate Bar Experience (paid attraction) and it’s also home of the famous Hershey Factory Tour Ride (free) that takes you on a tour through a make shift factory. You will not want to miss this attraction! Check out more about Hershey’s Chocolate World by clicking here.

When it comes to accommodations in the Hershey Park area our favorite two resorts are The Hotel Hershey and The Hershey Lodge. During our recent visit we stayed at The Hershey Lodge. The lodge has everything you would expect from a resort centered around Hershey’s products from characters in the lobby to sheets and pillowcases adorned with embroidered Hershey’s Kisses. There is even Kisses themed wallpaper in the restroom. Every room comes with a turn down service where surprises will be left on your pillow. It’s a dream come true. There is also a Children’s Check in each day where characters greet your children and special activities are available. You won’t want to miss it if you are visiting The Hershey Lodge. The resort also has dining available in a few locations throughout the lodge. Check out more about The Hershey Lodge by clicking here.

When it comes to a water experience, The Hershey Lodge has you covered. Their new resort attraction, Hershey Water Works at Hershey Lodge is a mini waterpark right inside the hotel. There is even a Red Twizzlers themed waterslide that you will love. There is a pool with ride on dolphins, basketball hoops, sprinklers, slides, and more. They have a 14+ Hot Tub is just utopia after a day in the park! If you stay at the Hershey Lodge make time to check out the pool area, you won’t be disappointed.

Disney Hyperion Burning Magic Author Joshua Khan Guest Post

Disney Hyperion Burning Magic- A Shadow Magic Novel Author Joshua Khan Guest Post

Burning Magic Blog Tour Banner

This post is Part Three of our Disney Hyperion Blog Tour! We have been honored to be a part of this book tour. As you may have already guessed, reading is big in our family and in my life. Being a former teacher of twenty years plus and a mom of three there is nothing better than a book in our house. The internet is great but a book opens your mind and sparks your own imagination. I love that when you read you can make your own movie in your mind. There is something unique about reading that can never be replaced. I’m also a huge fan of holding a book in my hands and turning pages. If you are not a book fan maybe you just have not found the right book for you.

When Disney Hyperion invited me to be a part of their Blog Tour I was so so excited. When they invited me to have the author of Burning Magic – A Shadow Magic Novel to write a guest post on my blog I was beyond elated!! How exciting! So, here it goes. The following post is brought to you by Guest Writer, Joshua Khan!!!! The thrill of getting a one on one peek into Joshua’s mind is really awesome.

Burning Magic

So, we asked Joshua to come up with a Book Playlist for Burning Magic! Check out his guest post below and ENJOY!

(Beginning of Guest Post)

Book Playlist for Burning Magic- A Shadow Magic Novel BY Joshua Khan (Author of Burning Magic)

1.      The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien

2.      Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Suzanne Clarke

3.      Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling

4.      Conan the Adventurer by RE Howards

5.      Dune by Frank Herbert

6.      Game of Thrones by GRR Martin

All of the above books have played a part in the creation of the Shadow Magic trilogy. The Hobbit remains, to me, the best children’s book and best fantasy book of all time. I’ve read it dozens of times and each is a thrill all over again. Too many magical moments to mention.

The Conan books are pure adventure, and very clever world building too, taking random bits and pieces from mythology and the ancient world and mixing it all up. It shouldn’t work, but it does!

Suzanne Clarkes magnificent epic deals with the tricky nature of dealing with the fae folk, and I’ve never entered a world quite as Macabre and as magical as the one she created.

What can I say about Harry Potter that hasn’t been said before? Anyway, I think Hogwarts is a brilliant creation and was an inspiration behind Castle Gloom in the Shadow Magic books.

Dune and Game of Thrones deal with similar themes, the battle for power. All different nobles houses fighting it out, sometimes with blades, but others times with politics and treachery. The Shadow Magic world is controlled by six houses of magic and the same battles and conflicts take place.

(End of Guest Post)
