Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at NJPAC

Disney's Beaty and the Beast
NETworks presents:
Disney’s
Beauty and the Beast
NJPAC
Newark, NJ
June 22-26, 2011
Wednesday night I had the pleasure of attending opening night of
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, NJ.
By now, we had all probably heard of
Beauty and the Beast, but to see it live on stage is just magical.
NETworks Presentations, LLC does a wonderful job of
sprinkling a little bit of magic into our everyday lives.
The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, the costuming is exquisite,
and the choreography makes you wants to get out of your seat and dance along!

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is a sheer pleasure to attend, from beginning to end! Upon entereing NJPAC your little ones can enjoy a toy tea party set-up or two to pass the time in the lobby before the show begins. Upon entering the grand theater and being shown to your seat, you cannot help but notice the beautiful rose adorned upon the stage. This really sets the mood before the fun even begins. There is no better way to see “Beauty and the Beast” than live. I only had to look around me at all the children and adults to see just how empowering this show really was as the crowd cheered with delight and I did see a few teary eyes in our section when Beauty and Beast danced to their special song.
If you have the chance to see NETworks Disney’s Beauty and the Beast do not miss it. It’s a wonderful experience  for children of any age and great family fun! You won’t be disappointed!

NETworks Presents Disney’s Beauty and the Beast opens at NJPAC on Wednesday, June 22nd at 7:30 p.m. and continues Thursday, June 23rd at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; Friday, June 24th at 8 p.m.; Saturday, June 25th at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, June 26th at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $24 to $100 and may be purchased by telephone at 1-888-GO-NJPAC (1-888-466-5722), by visiting the NJPAC Box Office at One Center Street in downtown Newark, or online at www.njpac.org. The X-Factor Audition Taping at Prudential Center

                               The X-Factor
             Audition Taping at Prudential Center

Recently, I was lucky enough to attend one on my own
Newark Macaroni Kid events. I was so excited to find the event
and even happier to check it out with my two sons. We all went
to the audition taping of The X-Factor! The X-Factor is a reality television singing competition created by Simon Cowell. It will premiere in September 2011 on FOX network.

The competition is open to solo singers or groups and has n
o upper age limit. You do have to be 12 years old to compete. Tonight we did see some groups, like the great two person group called Ausem! There was also a 12 year old girl that was super talented! Of course there were a few people that slipped through the cracks and some that gave us a real laugh.

The panel of judges on The X-Factor consists of four people. Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, L.A. Reid and Nicole Scherzinger. What a great mix of personalities. I have to say that Simon Cowell was really much nicer in person and Paula was just as sweet as she appeared to be when she was on American Idol. She was even nice enough to tweet me later on!

The audience of The X-Factor audition taping was very energetic and got a little loud at times. For the most part everyone agreed on what talent was good and what was not. Thank goodness there were a lot more good than not. I personally cannot wait for The X-Factor to air. If it turns out to be half as entertaining as the taping, I don’t think I will miss an episode of it!

June 14th! Happy Flag Day!

  U.S. Flag Day
Happy Flag Day
June 14
Being a teacher for 20 years, I always looked forward to Flag Day and all of the Flag Day celebrations I would have with the classes.
The flag holds so much symbolism and importance to every person.
In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated every year on June 14th. Although Flag Day is not a federal holiday, the state of PA. uses it as a state holiday. This day celebrates the day the USA adopted its flag in 1777. President Woodrow Wilson made
Flag Day official in 1916.
In 1949 National Flag Day was established by an Act of Congress.

There are many ways to celebrate Flag Day. Some people celebrate Flag Day by flying the flag in front of their house or by hand. We will be making flags from paper and also flag cookies.
Have a great Flag Day!

Sweet Heart Rose for Dollie & Me

Sweet Heart Rose for Dollie & Me

To me there is really nothing more precious that a
little girl playing dolls.
Since I have been a boy-mom for many years, it is a little bit different to see all the pink and dolls in our house over the past four years, since Emily came along.
She is a total girlie-girl and loves to play dolls and dress up, so when I heard about
Dollie&Me I knew it would be a perfect choice for her.

From the moment the Dollie&Me box arrived in the mail my 4 year old daughter was hooked. Dollie & Me dolls are designed by the Alexander Doll Company, Inc., the same designer and manufacturer of Madame Alexander dolls. The 18 inch dolls have beautiful flowing hair for easy styling (which we do a lot of around here), jointed bodies, and sleep eyes.

My daughter loved the doll immediately and
could not wait to free her from the box!
The matching outfits made especially for the Dollie&Me

(or your favorite 18 inch doll) fit her perfectly and were great quality.
I am always in search of a better quality clothes in lieu of, as I call them, one wash clothes!

Sweet Heart Rose for Dollie&Me is a line that includes beautiful party dresses, tunics, fantasy dresses, and comfy PJs. It also includes hair accessories, handbags, jewelry and toys for both girls and their 18 inch dollies.

I won’t lie and say that Emily does not have a lot of dolls,
but I will say that she loves how the Dollie & Me is posed into a sitting and standing position so easily. She loves how she can brush and style the dolls hair and how
her dollie and her can wear the same adorable outfits!
I am happy that it is not a frustrating experience and that can make any little girl and mommy smile! Emily and her new friend have been pretty much inseparable since she arrived. The doll and her matching clothing are very fashionable and super-adorable! They are also moderately priced. I would recommend Dollie & Me to anyone that is looking for a lovely  and fashionable friend for a special little girl.
I have a feeling we will have many more Sweet Heart Rose Dollie&Me outfits, handbags and jewelry in our house in the near future! And that will be a good thing!

Dollie & Me (dolls- as one featured in this review)are available in many department stores including
Kohl’s, Sears and online.
