My Little Pony:The Movie First Official Trailer!!!

mlpmovie3My Little Pony is a staple in our house. No matter what room you walk into you can pretty much guarantee you will be able to find a My Little Pony figure, toy, poster, or clothes item. So, when my daughter and I first heard there was going to be a MOVIE, a BIG SCREEN movie, we were just beyond excited! What could be more fun than seeing My Little Pony at the movies? She has already starting planning which of her stuffies would accompany us on the big day and maybe even hoping to walk the purple carpet in LA (thinking it may be purple right?) cause you just never know!!!!

Anyway, with saying that, we have been eagerly  awaiting every piece of movie art and little tid-bits of information that has been coming along month by month. A few months back we were able to check out all of the amazing new toys that Hasbro has lined up to compliment the new screen flick.

So, HERE IT IS!!!! The first biggie movie trailer has arrived and you are most likely going to watch it over and over again. My Little Pony: The Movie is promising to be amazing! You can call me Pinkie Pie at this moment because the excitement level is through the roof! Check out the trailer and spread the word! See you at the movies.

 Kalahari Resort- Poconos- A Great Summer Getaway

kalaharioutsideAbout two hours from NYC is Kalahari Resort in the Poconos. This gem of a resort will make you forget the rest of world even exists. Our family had the chance to visit and check out Kalahari recently.  There is plenty to see and do and something for everyone in the family to enjoy!

Kalahari is perfect for families so it makes sense that it is run by one. The Nelson Family owns and runs the Kalahari chain of resorts. They are a family, so they know just what families are looking for. The resort in the Poconos is like taking a trip to Africa. The feel is right and you cannot help but notice the theme throughout the resort. The Nelson family recently returned from a 23-day trip to Africa, where they sourced authentic items and experiences that will be directly translated into the new resort.

kalaharigiraffepoolOur family was taken immediately by the grand exterior of the resort. But that was only the beginning. The lobby was incredible and we were graced with artifacts from Africa along with an enormous collage of photos taken in Africa. One of my favorite parts of the lobby was the replica of an African hut. Our family learned many new things about Africa during our visit.

Now, let’s talk waterpark. Kalahari has an amazing waterpark that is huge. We visited while the outdoor pool was open which made the waterpark even bigger. There are tons of waterslides, pools, and a lazy river. There is a separate section for little kids that even has its own one foot deep mini lazy river complete with mini tubes. Absolutely adorable! As for the big kids including adults- so many water choices including an in water bar (for 21+).

kalahariroom When it comes to resort rooms we had the regular room with two queen beds and a pull out. The rooms were pretty roomy and included a mini fridge and microwave. Our room had a very small balcony, but it seemed to be just enough. The resort housekeeping staff was very quick to accommodate  and answer any questions our family had.  The beds were comfy and the noise level in the hallways was minimal. Since the resort is very big- when you call to book a room, or at check in, be sure to request a room close to the lobby. We were pretty far away which made it tough just to “run back” to the room for something.

We also dined and shopped and played in the arcade during our stay. The arcade was huge and fun for all. Everything is coded onto a play card and used for playing the games and redeeming the prizes. We dined all over the resort. One of our favorites was the Great Karoo Marketplace Buffet. We feasted on dinner there. The prices were reasonable and the choices were many. Bonus: Chocolate Fountain! As for delish in between foods, snacks and coffee our number one choice was Java Manjaro!

After Scott and Kate Johansen (Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler) lose their daughter Alex’s college fund, they become desperate to earn it back so she can pursue her dream of attending a university. With the help of their neighbor Frank (Jason Mantzoukas), they decide to start an illegal casino in the basement of his house.

Netflix Launches Puss In Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale- Choose Your Own Adventure Now On Netflix and IOS

Being part of the Netflix Stream Team is pretty much like living in a dream. Recently our family was invited to cozy shop owned bookstore in NYC. We were not given much information about the event so that everything could be kept under wraps until today’s big launch. As if Netflix is not already our go to place for everyone in our family, it seems that as of today it is getting even better. Netflix is unrolling “Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale” where your child is put in the driver’s seat!

puss3After being a classroom teacher for twenty years and a mom of three there is one thing I know about children, they love to be the ones making the decisions. Netflix will now give the children what they want, they will be the director of their own show. They will choose what happens next and how the story will progress. The best part of all is that they can go back and then choose the alternate choice and watch a completely different episode. There are so many choices.

puss8So, here is how it works. Each episode is about 25-40 minutes long depending on the choices made. Puss in Boots is trapped inside of a fairy tale and only goes on based on the decisions made by the watcher. There are pause points where the viewer will be shown two pictures that look like storybook pages. They will have to choose one of the pages in order for the story to continue. What a fun adventure! You can watch this on your IOS device or on your tv- you will need your remote handy if you are watching on tv.

At the event the children were put to the test to see if Netflix had a winner on their hands. Judging by the smiles and laughter, I would have to say they do. Of course if you are watching it with more than one person will also be learning some life skills about compromise and taking turns. We were introduced to the ins and outs of this new interactive storytelling by Carla Engelbrecht Fisher, the director of product innovation at Netflix. School is out for summer. It’s a perfect time to introduce your child to this new interactive Netflix experience. From one parent to another, you will definitely want to watch it with your child a few times. It’s a great family activity as well as alone screen time.

 Get ready Transformers fans! We have an awesome special event just for you that you will not want to miss out on! To celebrate the opening of one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, Transformers: The Last Knight, The Paley Center for Media will host Transformers Through the Years: A Super-Saturday Family Screening Celebration. The fun-filled afternoon will include a premiere screening of a new Transformers animated episode and also classic animated episodes, as well as immersive photo activities that will place families right in the Transformers universe, and free Transformers toys to the first 350 children in attendance. The event is free and open to the public and will take place at the Paley Center’s New York location on June 17, 2017.

The free afternoon of activities includes a premiere screening from the animated seriesTransformers: Robots in Disguise, as well as specially selected Transformers animated favorites including Transformers Prime, Transformers: Robots in Disguise and Transformers: Beast Wars. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage in a unique animated photo activity where they will find themselves immersed in the middle of the Transformers world. These special photos, created by Smilebooth, can also be shared on social media. In addition, visitors can pose with Transformers standees that will adorn the Paley Center lobby. To top it all off, the first 350 children in attendance will receive a special Transformers toy.
