Interview: Mary Lynn Rajskub Gives Us the Inside Scoop on Universal Pictures Night School

Have you been to the movies lately? There are movies that make us laugh and there are movies that make it hard to stop laughing. Universal Pictures Night School is a definite side splitter when it comes to humor. When the entire theater bursts out in laughter you know the movie is great. Night School is in theaters now and definitely should be on your big screen list for this weekend. Hubby and I had the chance to take in an advance screening the other night and we both thought the movie was hilarious.

After seeing the movie I was honored to have the opportunity to chat with Mary Lynn Rajskub who plays a stay at home mom who is back in night school hoping to pass her GED exam.  During the interview I asked Mary Ellen that aside from the humor if she thought there was a more serious message the viewers would walk away with after seeing Night School. She talked about how there are non-stop jokes, but that there was a great message of personal growth how her character went from being invisible and living a life of responsibility and obligation to blossoming and loving being around people. She discovered that she loved to learn and even communicated that to her husband by the end. Each character in the movie has their own journey  in that way, led by Kevin Hart’s character who doesn’t give up and learns how to learn and how important that was, and I love that! Mary Lynn was not sure if she would be taking her ten year old son to the movie or not. She also stated that although she is not like her character in the movie she is in the respect that she is very reactive although traditional at parenting and uses the stage and stand-up comedy to help her along the way.

So grab your friends this weekend and head to the theater. You will not be disappointed. Everyone needs a little time out to just escape their troubles. This film is sure to take you there. Star Kevin Hart and producer Will Packer, who partnered for the hit Ride Along and Think Like a Man series, bring their signature style to Night School.  The comedy from director Malcolm D. Lee (Girls Trip) follows a group of misfits who are forced to attend adult classes in the longshot chance they’ll pass the GED exam. Rated PG-13 So, what are you waiting for? Everyone needs a second chance, wouldn’t you agree?

Dove Cameron Debuts New Single “Born Ready”, The Theme Song to Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors Animated Film Digital Single Available Now!
Who is super pumped about anything MARVEL?!! That would be ME! So when I hear about Dove Cameron’s new single, Born Ready, I HAD to share all the news with you!  Walt Disney Records and Marvel Music today released “Born Ready,” an exclusive new single performed by Dove Cameron (“Descendants 3,” “Hairspray Live”) as the theme song to the upcoming animated film “Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors.” The digital single is currently available for download and at streaming services and the companion featurette is now available on DisneyMusicVEVO (click here to watch).

“Marvel Rising” is the next generation of Marvel heroes for the next generation of Marvel fans. In the animated film, “Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors,” powered teens Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, Quake, Patriot, America Chavez, and Inferno join forces as an unlikely, but formidable crew of aspiring heroes. When a threat no one could have expected bears down on the Marvel Universe, this ragtag, untrained band of teens have no choice but to rise together and prove to the world that sometimes the difference between a “hero” and “misfit” is just in the name. “Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors” will premiere simultaneously on Disney Channel and Disney XD on Sunday, September 30.

Dove Cameron is the voice of Ghost-Spider, a free-spirited teen who finds her calling to be a Super Hero after being bitten by a radioactive spider and gaining spider-like powers. Her character appears in “Marvel Rising: Initiation,” a series of 6 animated shorts that premiered on Disney XD earlier this month and are available to watch on Marvel HQ now (click here to watch).

“When we heard ‘Born Ready’ for the first time, it gave our animation team chills,” said Cort Lane, Marvel’s Senior Vice President of Animation & Family Entertainment. “It had all the swagger, friendship and heroic aspirations of the Marvel Rising characters. “Born Ready” was performed by Dove Cameron, written by Doug Rockwell and Tova Litvin, produced by Doug Rockwell, and published by Touchstone Pictures Music & Songs, Inc. (ASCAP) and Marvel Comics Music, Inc. (ASCAP) / Buena Vista Music Company (BMI) and Marvel Superheroes Music (BMI).

“Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors” stars Chloe Bennet as Quake, Milana Vayntrub as Squirrel Girl, Kathreen Khavari as Ms. Marvel, Kamil McFadden as Patriot, Tyler Posey as Inferno, BooBoo Stewart as Exile, Cierra Ramirez as America Chavez, Kim Raver as Captain Marvel, Ming-Na Wen as Hala, and Dee Bradley Baker as Tippy Toe & Lockjaw.

“Marvel Rising: Initiation” and “Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors” are executive produced by Joe Quesada, Dan Buckley, Cort Lane, and Eric Radomski; co-executive produced by Stan Lee, Sana Amanat, and Marsha Griffin. As mother and daughter quarrel, they accidentally break the treasured hourglass given to Ellie by her father and then, suddenly, they magically switch bodies. Now, Ellie and Katherine must trade places at work and at school, and, during one crazy day, they’ll learn to understand and appreciate each other.
