Disney Dining at Epcot- The Coral Reef

coralreef1Every time we visit the Disney Parks and Epcot there is one place everyone in our family agrees about when it comes to dining, The Coral Reef. Located to the right and behind The Seas With Nemo you can find this quaint gem of a restaurant. We have dined there for years and just keep going back. The atmosphere inside is just beautiful. It’s like dining under the sea. No matter which level you are seated on you have a view of the massive tank windows that engulf the entire first level. Please note that only parties of four and under can be seated against the windows of the aquarium. Parties of five can be seated on the first level within half circled booths. Personally thoughout the years I have found that sitting on the second or third platform really is best. You don’t have all the people’s heads in front of you and you can get a better view of the full tank. Sitting on the first level has its perks, don’t get me wrong. The drawback is that you really have a view of one of the windows. The great part is you are so close that you feel like you can reach out and grab a shark!

If you like lobster bisque be sure to order it a the Coral Reef. It’s my favorite! The desserts also will never disappoint and there are choices galore. Some of our family favorites are the turtle cheesecake with caramel, The Chocolate Wave or and the delicious Baileys and Jack Daniel’s Mousse.

Now in addition to the amazing dining choices one of the main reasons we keep going back to the Coral Reef is the atmosphere. While you dine you most likely will have the chance to see some sharks, gigantic sea turtles, and even scuba divers! The Seas is the largest inland saltwater environment ever built, and holds enough water to fill 54 Olympic-sized swimming pools! The meticulously crafted habitat has been designed by marine scientists to enrich the lives of the 4,000-plus sea creatures—85 species of tropical fish!—that call The Seas home.

You can have fun along with your children trying to identify the different species of sharks, rays, sea turtles and fish with your souvenir fish guide. We have even been there when Mickey came swimming through in his scuba gear! I won’t say that the Coral Reef is my absolute favorite restaurant on Disney property, but it is in my Top Five!
