School of Rock: The Musical- A Perfect Choice For All Ages! @SoRmusical

School of Rock: The Musical – A Perfect Choice For All Ages!SOC10Recently, my family had the chance to attend Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit new Broadway production School of Rock: The Musical. In one of the most fun and energetic shows that fans of the 2003 film and newcomers alike should see, School of Rock translates perfectly to the stage. Being a huge fan of the original movie, I was happy to see many of the jokes making their way into the show, along with some new ones that fell in line with the style and spirit of the movie. Watching the show live brought one of my favorite comedies to life before my eyes. Seeing one of my favorite movies come to life was a dream come true!

In School of Rock: The Musical, a thirty-something-year-old Dewey Finn has found himself behind on the rent, and kicked out of his own band. So, when a phone call from a prestigious school for his best friend about a teaching opportunity is presented to Finn, he finds what could be the solution to his problems. After taking the job, Finn becomes “Ned Schneebly,” the name of his longtime friend and roommate. Upon arriving at the school nearly two hours after the first period has begun, Finn sees that these children need to be broken from the formula that they live in, and showed the ways of rock and roll.

Finn is portrayed perfectly in the show, as his live-action counterpart channels Jack Black’s magic without stepping on the toes of the original performance. All of the children involved in the show’s production are also extremely talented, as they play most of their instrumental sections in real time. The show will bring great nostalgia to fans of the movie, as the final performance is executed perfectly, and the show gives you the same feeling that watching the movie for the first time did.

After seeing the performance, we waited as the children from the show made their way back to the stage for a Q&A session. We had the chance to hear about what life is like on set, as each actor is assigned a guardian who must be with them at all times, to where they were when they found out that they got the part. The children, ranging from anywhere in between age nine to their early teens, all loved working with the show, and, while exhausting, have nothing but a great time during the performance. My ten year old daughter asked how often the children had to practice and was told it depended on if they were an understudy or if they were in the show a long time. The practice varied according to the role they had. My hubby asked if their parents were allowed to attend the shows or if they had a go to adult. They told him the parents had to drop them off at the Stage Door and they were taken care of by an assigned guardian.

We loved having the opportunity to check out School of Rock: The Musical, as it is fun for the entire family. Our middle son grew up on the original film, where our youngest had not seen it yet. It was interesting to hear both their perspectives on the Broadway production. Our middle son, who has seen the movie a zillion times thought they got the musical absolutely perfect! My daughter who has never seen the movie, now wants to see it badly! Our family can’t wait to take visiting friends and family to see this great show when they are in town! School of Rock: The Musical is a must-see for 2017, and an experience that your family should definitely not miss! A while back our family got a sneak peek at the beginning of DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby and absolutely loved it! You are really in store for some fun with this one. Both parents and kids are going to laugh throughout the film. I am beyond thrilled to be able to invite readers of 3decades3kids to a super advance screening of the movie. DreamWorks Animation and the director of Madagascar invite you to meet a most unusual baby.  He wears a suit, speaks with the voice and wit of Alec Baldwin, and stars in the animated comedy, DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby.  The Boss Baby is a hilariously universal story about how a new baby’s arrival impacts a family, told from the point of view of a delightfully unreliable narrator, a wildly imaginative 7 year old named Tim.  With a sly, heart-filled message about the importance of family, DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby is an authentic and broadly appealing original comedy for all ages.  http://www.dreamworks.com/thebossbaby/

Directed by: Tom McGrath

Written by: Michael McCullers (based on the award-winning picture book by Marla Frazee)

Cast: Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow, Miles Bakshi

THE BOSS BABY hits theaters everywhere on March 31, 2017!

SYNOPSIS: For the Tibetan Mastiffs living on Snow Mountain, a dog’s life has a simple riff: Guard a peaceful village of wool-making sheep from the thuggish wolf Linnux (Lewis Black) and his rabid pack. To avoid distractions, Mastiff leader Khampa (J.K. Simmons) forbids all music from the mountain. But when Khampa’s son Bodi (Luke Wilson) discovers a radio dropped by a passing airplane, it takes just a few guitar licks for his fate to be sealed: Bodi wants to be a rock ‘n’ roll star. Yet that means defying his father’s wishes, heading to the city, and locating the legendary – and reclusive – musician Angus Scattergood (Eddie Izzard), who needs to write a new song and fast. http://www.rockdogmovie.com/

The Lego Batman Movie! In Theaters Now- #Review @LegoBatmanMovie

The Lego Batman Movie- In Theaters Now!

legobatmanimax

Recently, my family had the chance to attend an advanced screening of the upcoming The Lego Batman Movie, which releases on February 10th. Warner Bros. has set the bar high for family films this year, as The Lego Batman Movie is one of the most enjoyable, humorous, and action-packed movies in recent memory. Will Arnett shines as Batman, and from the second the movie starts to the closing credits, the jokes never stop. Longtime fans of the Batman license will also notice many nods to lesser-known villains in the extensive roster of characters that DC Entertainment has at their disposal. If you have a favorite character that has appeared at some point within Gotham City, chances are that they will be making their big screen debut in the film.

In The Lego Batman Movie, Jim Gordon has decided to step down as commissioner in Gotham City, and his daughter Barbara calls for a no-Batman policy when it comes to crime-prevention. But after the Joker moves forward with his most dangerous and chaotic plan to date, there’s only one person who can save the city. However, he can’t do it alone, and is assisted by Robin, played by Michael Cera in the movie. After some confusion during their first meeting, Batman ends up as his caretaker and super-mentor. Hilarity ensues, as a young Dick Grayson tries to prove himself to the Dark Knight.

Another thing that truly makes The Lego Batman Movie a unique and fun experience is how the animators keep true to the toys the film is based off of. With every single inch of the city rendered to look as if it was a real Lego brick, and objects breaking apart into hundreds of little Lego pieces, the level of attention put into this highly-destructible Gotham City is admirable. Seeing the film in an IMAX theater also added to the experience, as guest characters from other licenses look amazing on the big screen. With many other special guests in the film, there is no guessing as to what will come next throughout the movie’s runtime. A frantic & fun adventure, the plot takes twists & turns that remind me of when my children create their own Lego stories.

Overall, Warner Bros. has created a charming film that shows that Batman is much more than a lonesome billionaire. His bond with the rest of the bat-family around him and even with his enemies offers some insight into the Batman world. The movie keeps a very lighthearted tone throughout, and is chock-full of plenty of gags for the whole family to enjoy! http://www.legobatman.com/
