Giveaway: Wellie Wishers From American Girl Brand!

For years my daughter has been in love with American Girl Brand. Since her name is Emily, her grandma gifted her with the beautiful Emily doll before she was even born. When she was two years old she had her first trip to the American Girl Store in NYC for a set of Bitty Baby twins. She named them Max and Emmy and took them everywhere. The connection was amazing. At three she started her birthday tradition of having brunch for the past few years at the American Girl Café complete with cake and dollies on hand in their own seats at the table. Since then Emily and mommy have spent countless hours playing dolls and creating memories that I hope will carry onto when she has her own children someday. What I love about American Girl is that the dolls all have a story. They stand for something and somewhere in the world. They each are special and there is learning to be had for each doll choice made.

This is a brilliant stepping stone for little girls who are outgrowing Bitty Baby (if that is possible) and not quite ready for the 18 inch dolls. Emily was thrilled to get a surprise in the mail from American Girl today and could not wait to check out Ashlyn. American Girl recently debuted Wellie Wishers, an all-new content and doll lifestyle brand for girls ages 5 to 7. Although they are geared for ages five through seven, I can plainly see how children younger and older than the target group may want Wellie Wishers as part of their collection. There are five Wellie Wishers friends- Willa, Kendall, Ashlyn, Emerson, and Camille. They can imagine and play in an enchanted neighborhood garden supervised by Aunt Miranda. Through their heartwarming and humorous adventures, the WellieWishers help a girl to learn how to “stand in another person’s wellies“. They will discover the skills of empathy, kindness, and compassion that will help her be a good friend. Being a mom, I cannot think of better lessons for my own daughter to learn about being a good friend. Hopefully these little life lessons will carry her though life in creating meaningful friendships.

Emily was lucky enough to read all three of the Wellie Wishers books. Wellie Wishers- Ashlyn’s Unsurprise Party where Ashlyn learns more about what it really means to be a friend and also gets a surprise of her own. In the back of this book there are some great pages just for parents to help  with their own party planning ideas including who to invite, how long the party should last and how to get your daughter involved in the party preparations. Personally I loved the festive foods section where there Emm and I found great tips on how to make supercute mini sandwiches and Very Berry Punch!  The second book titled Wellie Wishers- The Riddle of the Robin teaches great lessons about friendship and backyard friends including a very special robin. There are some crafty ideas on how to made feeders to place in your own backyard or the local park tree. The third book- Wellie Wishers- The Muddily-Puddily Show will give your daughter some great insight into cooperation when being in a group situation with friends. There are a few great ideas at the end of this book, my favorite being the scrapbook.  Each of the three books includes all five Wellie Wishers friends, so you cannot go wrong with whichever one you choose. (Books will be available this September, but you can read an excerpt of each one here;   There is also an animated series: The Wellie Wishers coming this Fall 2016. I will let you know more about that as I get the details in.

The Wellie Wishers each have a special pair of boots also known as wellingtons or wellies. Once they step into their pair of colorful garden boots the girls are ready for whatever comes their way.You can download the free app available now where kids can be introduced to the Wellie Wishers and find adventures as they put on their wellies and play in the garden. They can help to take care of Carrot, the cutest pet rabbit around, make mud pies and create music with instruments inspired by the garden itself. To learn more about American Girl, or to find more games and activities, visit americangirl.com/play
