 Disney’s Frozen
Now In Theaters
A Must See! #DisneyFrozen

Recently I had the opportunity to attend Disney’s Frozen, now in theaters, and it more than exceeded expectations– no easy feat considering that the bar was set quite high by recent hits like Tangled and Wreck-it-Ralph! Where Frozen soars, though, is in its distinct separation from Disney’s latest additions to its animated canon. Unlike Tangled and Wreck-it-Ralph, Frozen is a classic animated musical in the style of, for example, Beauty and the Beast or The Lion King.

The comparison to two of Disney’s recent Broadway hits is no accident– the film soars and delights with songs from Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (who worked with Disney on 2011’s Winnie the Pooh and Walt Disney World’s Finding Nemo: The Musical, as well as Broadway’s Avenue Q and The Book of Mormon). These great songs are only bolstered by Frozen‘s impressive vocal cast, featuring such talents as Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff, Kristen Bell, and the inimitable Idina Menzel,  who is absolutely thrilling as the snow queen Elsa. Frozen is no less than a tour-de-force, showstopping team act– and I haven’t even gotten to the story yet!

Whisking us away to the fictional (albeit Norway-based) kingdom of Arendelle, Frozen tells the story of sisters Anna and Elsa, who end up at odds on the day of Elsa’s coronation in a series of events that spiral out of control, leading Elsa to inadvertently plunge the kingdom into an eternal winter with her ability to control ice and snow. In the wake of this catastrophe, it’s up to Anna– and a ragtag group of friends she recruits along the way– to help Elsa come to her senses and stop the chaos she created. But as both Anna and Elsa soon realize, bringing Arendelle out of winter may take something bigger than the two sisters had ever imagined. As lives hang in the balance, will they be able to save the kingdom in time?
Disney’s Frozen is a fantastic film for the whole family– every last one of us couldn’t get enough!– and it is without a doubt on track to becoming a modern animated classic. For this year’s holiday season, Frozen is definitely a must-see for anyone who loves Disney, Broadway, animated films, or is just on the lookout for an excellent story!
