Have You Ever Been To Monster Jam? It’s Awesome! @monsterjam

Monster Jam
Once You Go You Will Be Hooked!
This weekend our family had the pleasure of attending another Monster Jam show at Izod Center in New Jersey. If you asked me five years ago about Monster Jam most likely I would not been able to tell you anything about it at all. Flash forward a few years and our family pretty much attends each and every show that hits the NJ/NYC area. We know all the trucks and drivers and every family member has developed their favorite. We look forward to the outdoor event as much as the indoor one.
Last night I was privledeged to be able to interview Adam Anderson, driver of Grave Digger-The Legend and son of Dennis Anderson-driver of the original Grave Digger.
Adam Anderson showed us how to change those gigantic monster truck tires right before our eyes. He also gave us a rundown of how the original Grave Digger name came to be. His father stated that he would, “Take this old truck and dig you a grave with it”.

Adam shared how he goes into the competition with no exact plan in mind.
He just does what he has to do to make it work. Last night it worked for sure as he took home to wins in a row. When I asked Adam how if felt to compete against his father he did admit to a twang of guilt for breaking his dad’s winning streak on Father’s Day in Met Life Stadium. Well, I had to respect him for that and for knowing that he would always do his best, even against his own father.
Adam gave us an exclusive look inside the Grave Digger-The Legend monster truck. I never realized that the seat was smack dab in the middle. There is also not much room to move around in there. I was glad to see a fan poster fall out and also that there was a fire extingusisher inside the truck next to the seat. When my daugher asked about the size of the tires, Adam told her to stand right next to them, only to see that the tire towered over Emily. Wow!!

As for the Monster Jam show. It is always unique and always fun for the entire family.  This show is fun for all ages. My oldest so loved it as much as my youngest daughter. This four wheeled extravaganza featured heart pounding racing and of course our favorite part- Free Style!
Watching monster trucks that stand twelve feet high and twelve feet wide is something you have to experience. 10, 000 pounds of power in each truck will have you cheering for your favorite time after time.
Each truck is custom designed and sits on top of four 66 inch tires! Our family was amazed to find out that Monster Trucks are capable of speeds up to 100 miles per hour! Wow!
They can also fly up to 130 feet, that’s a distance of 14 cars or more side by side, and in the air up to 35 feet!Monster Jam is something you should definitely take your family to at least once. It’s great for boys and girls. You can take the kids for just $15 to any show! Our night included fun with Grave Digger, Madusa, Grave Digger The Legend, Captain America, Thrasher, Black Stallion, and Overkill Evolution. Each show is different, with different Monster Trucks, and lots of live action fun!

Mountain Creek Right Here In New Jersey! SO Close! #getoutandplaynj #ski

Mountain Creek Right Here In New Jersey! #GetOutAndPlayNJ

Recently our family was invited to Mountain Creek Ski Resort in Vernon, NJ.
Before I begin let me tell you that I am in no way a ski expert. The last time I had a pair of skis on was back in high school many moons ago and my children have never been on skis before in their life.
From the moment we arrived at Mountain Creek we could not believe our eyes. Our family has lived in NJ our entire lives. How did we not know about this hidden treasure!?
Surrounded by mountains in every directions, a gorgeous rustic ski lodge and snow everywhere it was hard to not fall in love immediately! Our first stop was checking out the new Red Tail Lodge. We grabbed some lunch at The Market which is one of the many dining choices within the lodge. Soon after we headed to
Drop Zone Snow Tubing Park. Our family has enjoyed snow tubing before, but this was a very clean, organized and awesome experience. The snow  lanes were well organized and the tubing was exhilarating!
We also were able to warm up at the outdoor fire pit, complete with hot cocoa in hand. Nice!
Tubing was amazing, but our trip did have to continue with heading to the nearby Grand Cascades Lodge-one of the resorts that is part of Crystal Springs Resorts. The five minute drive was filled with a picturesque setting that could make you want it to last forever. The Grand Cascades Lodge is luxurious! Grand does not even begin to describe this lodge. Believe me when I tell you that you could make an entire stay at The Grand Cascades Lodge and never leave! We had the privilege of being invited on a private wine cellar tour through nine rooms of wines that were dated back to 1899 or earlier. Wow! What a unique experience.

Our check in at The Grand Cascades Lodge was very smooth and personalized. It is definitely a place we would love to revisit in the future and spend more time enjoying all of the amenities. There are restaurants, an incredible spa and a pool that is one of a kind- The Biosphere. The pool area also features a hot tub, sauna, water slide and passageway to an additional outdoor pool that is available even in the chill of winter.
Think our day ended there? No way! Although there were many dining choices at The Grand Cascades Lodge, our family was invited to dine at The Hawk’s Nest inside the Red Tail Lodge. Our family was seated by the almost ceiling to floor windows showcasing the mountains as living artwork. What a breathtaking sight. Many menu choices were available and each and every one we ordered were magnificent. You can check out the menu here. Everyone in our family enjoyed the dining experience and would definitely love to enjoy spending more time at The Hawk’s Nest in the future.
Our next day was reserved for a reserved private family ski lesson. Since our family ranges in age it always warms my heart to be able to find something everyone can enjoy together. Seems that Mountain Creek Ski Resort has just what the doctor ordered when it comes to family fun and adventure. I really had my doubts about anyone staying up for longer than two seconds on their skis. Surprisingly, with the kindness and expert instruction from our ski instructor, Ellen, our family was shown the steps we  needed to take in order to be successful at skiing for the first time. What an incredible moment for everyone. Our almost two hour lesson started off with basic strategies and ended up everyone successfully being able to glide down the mini hills.
Of course there are many levels of  skiing going on at Mountain Creek Resort from beginner to expert!
There are also a zillion choices of activities to partake in from skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, the
Alpine Mountain Coaster, Soaring Eagle and more. If that is not your thing there are spas, dining, various resort pools and plenty of hot cocoa! There is something for everyone at Mountain Creek!
See you on the slopes!
