Discovery Times Square World Premiere of Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N.
Now Open NYC!

Recently our family was invited to the blowout world premiere of Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. at Discovery Times Square, NYC, in association with Victory Hill Exhibitions and Marvel Entertainment and in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the National Academy of Sciences. This new exhibition is based on the global box-office smash film franchise: Marvel’s The Avengers, is now up and running at Discovery Times Square in New York City. Before I go any further, let me tell you I can sum it up in one word: Fantastic!

Honestly, we had no idea on what to expect. Having two sons, I am no stranger to Marvel’s Avengers for sure. Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. (Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network) is a completely immersive, interactive exhibit experience that brings visitors into the world of The Avengers. Leading EdTech innovator Gamedesk created S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) based educational pathways for the exhibition, bringing to life the science behind Marvel Super Heroes and allows fans to participate in a simulated recruitment, as if they were being trained as agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I knew my sons and hubby would love it, but I was not sure if it would hold the interest of my daugher and myself. Well, it did. You can definitely bring the entire family. Em and I had plenty to do! Visitors of all ages are exclusively recruited to join S.H.I.E.L.D. and enter the official S.T.A.T.I.O.N. headquarters. Exhibition-goers are then taken deep into the Marvel Cinematic Universe where they will experience first-hand the vast array of intelligence files, classified studies, and experiments that explores the history and scientific origins of Marvel’s The Avengers including Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America, Thor, and others. Visitors will also be given unprecedented access to some of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most highly guarded artifacts recovered after the Battle of New York such as Captain America’s Birth Pod, the Tesseract Portal Device, Loki’s Scepter, a hermetically sealed Chitauri and more.

If you are in the NYC area or planning to visit NYC, definitely add Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N to your list of things to do! You will not regret it and either will your family. Visit by yourself, with your family or your friends. It’s not something you will want to miss out on! NASA, the Science & Entertainment Exchange program of the National Academy of Sciences, Neuroverse, and Thwacke are all collaborating on Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. Exhibition visitors will map out the stars to find Asgard, learn to operate Iron Man’s suit, witness the neurological effects of Bruce Banner’s transformation into the Hulk, and physically test themselves against Captain America. Discovery Times Square is now transformed into the Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. . For tickets to Marvel’s Avengers: S.T.A.T.I.O.N. http://www.discoverytsx.com/exhibitions/avengers. The Ol’ Susquehanna Mine
Mine Train Give Away

Calling all miners! If you are like me, you may wonder sometimes about the past and all about mines. Since my parents were born and raised in Pa, it’s always been something on my mind. My family has heard mine stories over and over from the relatives, so when I heard about the Ol’ Susquehanna Mine Train right here in Phillipsburg, NJ, I had to find out more about it! We have not visited it yet or taken the ride, but I am sure it’s an awesome thing to do. We are definitely planning on it!

You can come tour the grounds, listen to an interactive history of the ol’ Susquehanna Mine and pan for real gem stones you can take home. One person in each group  can “blow the mine” and everyone can witness the mine shaft explosion.
Gemstone Panning is a great activity for all ages.  Participants may find up to 11 ounces of gemstones in a single bag which may include amethyst, rubies, rose quartz, emeralds, crystals, and an arrowhead.  All gems are of high quality and may be suitable for cutting, polishing, and mounting.  With every mine train ticker you will  receive one bag of  mining ore from  the Ole’ Susquehanna Mine.

Upon arriving at the mine site your guide will tell you the story of Sylas Smith and how he found the mine and about his tragic death which left the mind uncovered until this very year! Next you will walk over the the Ole’ Susquehanna mines operating sluice and learn how to pan for gem stones. once you understand how to pan give it a try and see if you can find some gems. Calling All Umizoomi Fans!
Help Save Umi City In A Brand-New
Team Umizoomi Game on NickJr.com

If you have a preschooler in your house, most chances are that you are very familiar with NickJr.com and Team Umizoomi. Although we are at the tail end of having a Team Umizoomi fan under the roof, I definitely know all about the show and the characters. They have helped to teach my daugther to count by tens foward and backwards and more. I’m thinking she will most likely be trying out this game anyway. Who can resist those adorable little Team Umizoomi characters? Okay, so even I could not resist! I just played the online game and it was SO much fun! You kids will love it. I can’t wait to share it with Em when she gets home from school. Thumbs up from this this teacher mom! Now, go play!

Team Umizoomi fans are in for a treat this week with the launch of a new online game, Team Umizoomi and the Stinky Dozen, available, Thursday, June 12, on Nickelodeon’s award-winning website, NickJr.com.  In this new game inspired by the popular Team Umizoomi episode, “UmiCops!,” Umi City has been invaded by a group of stink bugs and their potent stench is spreading quickly. Players must help the UmiCops scour the city and round up the stinky bugs before their smell spreads everywhere.

Team Umizoomi and the Stinky Dozen is an  exciting three-level game where players must help Milli, Geo and Bot track down the stinkbugs using pattern skills, quick reflexes and shape and number identification.  When all of the stinkbugs have finally been caught, the UmiCops find them a new landfill home where they can spread their smell freely. Once the game is complete, gamers are rewarded with a printable UmiCop badge that they can color in and wear at home to signify their service to Team Umizoomi.
Additionally, kids can tune in to Nickelodeon on Monday, June 16, at 10:30 a.m. (ET/PT) to watch an encore presentation of “UmiCops!.”
Team Umizoomi features a tiny team of superheroes, Milli, Geo and Bot, who use their mighty math powers to help little kids solve big problems.  The series combines action-adventure missions with an interactive math curriculum designed to help kids develop self-confidence in their math abilities and appreciate the many ways in which math shapes their world.

This Made Our #SummerMustDo List!
Win A Family 4Pack of Tix Here

Tyrannosaurus to the right,  Stegosaurus to the left, Triceratops right in front of you! How can this be? Did I get transported back to the Jurassic time period? No, it’s all right here in Secaucus, NJ!

Welcome to Field Station Dinosaurs! Not far from the NJ turnpike, just a few miles from NYC,  you can find all of your favorite dinosaurs nestled amongst the trees and shrubs that contain realistic dinosaurs. It will make you think twice about what it was like millions of years ago.
If your family is like mine, we are always looking for something fun to do. Who doesn’t like dinosaurs? You can take your children or your friends and enjoy the entire
day at Field Station Dinosaurs. Let your imagination go wild and take you back to
millions of years ago as you think back to what it must have been like when dinosaurs
roamed the earth. Gigantic dinosaurs will tower over you as you follow the path throughout
the park. Each dinosaur is interactive and accompanied by a display board
with the dino’s name and facts. It’s perfect for people like me who can never remember all of the names. By the way, your children will not even realize this is an educational trip.
You may even pick up a few dinosaur facts you never knew about!

Along with walking throughout the park there are many other things to do during your

visit. There are interactive live shows throughout the day. The show theme changes even though the location remains the same, so you can see more than one. We caught two shows during our visit and both were entirely entertaining! There are also stops along the way where you can present your Passport for stamping after completing the activities. There is a coloring tent, building tent, a dinosaur bone digging sand pit (my daughter’s favorite) and many more. You may even get to pet or hold a baby dinosaur!

One little tip when  you visit, don’t forget to venture to the highest point of the park. There are few amazing dinosaurs at the top and also a view of the New York Skyline as a backdrop to the T-Rex! If you take a selfie with him, rage it #Trexselfie and tweet it to @Jerseysaurus. If your tummy starts to rumble, Field Station Dinosaurs has you covered with frozen treats, drinks and plenty of  food choices. There is a covered tent with tables to enjoy your lunch under. If you child loves it at Field Station Dinosaur you can set up a birthday party that will take place in a private camping tent filled with tables and plenty of room to celebrate the big day! My daughter is already hinting that this would be a great place to celebrate her 8th birthday!

There is also A fantastic 3D Dinosaur movie! This will really get you into the dinosaur frame of mind. Roar! Just remember when you visit Field Station Dinosaurs to dress comfortably. The dinosaurs won’t mind if they see you in your sneakers. The park is completely outdoors with the exception of a few covered stations. Bring plenty of suntan lotion and water along for the day. You can make the day as long or short as you would like. Honestly, you can spend a full day there if you take advantage of everything offered by the park. For my teacher friends, this is a must! The students would love it and it’s very manageable.
If you haven’t visited yet, definitely put it on your to do list for this summer! Field Station Dinosaurs definitely made our #SummerMustDo list!

Giveaway: Field Station Dinosaurs is giving one lucky 3decades3kids reader a
Family 4 Pack of tickets to the park! Disclosure: Field Station Dinosaurs is responsible for
delivery of tickets. Parking fee/food not included. Winner chosen June 20th at 10pm and notified by email. Winner will have 24 hours to respond before a new winner is chosen. Have a dinosaur day!

Making Candy Apples Disney Style! #DisneySMMoms I Could Watch This Video All Day Long! @Disneylandtoday

Making Candy Apples Disney Style
I Could Watch This Video All Day Long
#DisneySMMoms

Recently our family had the pleasure of attending the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration held at Disneyland in California. If you usually go to Walt Disney World like our family it’s pretty hard to imagine what the whole Disneyland area is all about. It was thrilled to discover that the Disneyland Park and Resorts had plenty to offer including Downtown Disney! I’m not sure why, but I never knew there was a Downtown Disney in California. What an awesome surprise! It’s not quite as big as the one in Florida but it packs the same punch when it comes to magic, dining and entertainment. Our family loved it! We did end up snacking and dining at Downtown Disney quite a few times during our trip. One our my favorite things to do was to watch the Disney Candy Apples being made right before my very eyes. I have have always admired them, not to mention how delicious they are, but to see them being made right in front of me was just an amazing experinece. Of course I had to record it. Maybe it’s just me, but I loved the whole process. The workers made it seem like it was such a breeze! Meanwhile, I was thinking, “Don’t try this at home”!  It’s one of my favorite videos, even though it’s not one of my best videos. I could just watch it over and over. Who knows, maybe someday I’ll take the plunge and make my own Disney candy apple! Hope you enjoy it! Yum!

I was going to finish this post by telling you which candy apple was my favorite, but I just could not decide. Maybe I better watch the video one more time! lol. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdADqnCKd1s&feature=share&list=UUR9Z0R9Mor-VCP05DRSdVgg&index=5
