MythBusters Now At Liberty Science Center! #Giveaway

MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition Now At Liberty Science Center! Review and Giveawaymyth3Recently our family had the chance to check out the new exhibit at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, NJ! Just a quick trip from NYC it’s a great place to spend the day with the family. As you know I was a teacher for twenty years and hubby is currently teaching.  Saying that, I am sure you can imagine how much we are always on the look out for exhibits where there is not only fun but education. MythBusters The Explosive Exhibition is definitely something that hits both categories. It is fun for the entire family and also educational. The best part is that your kids do not have to know the latter, they will think it’s just all about having fun!

If you are familiar with the show MythBusters you already know how exciting this exhibition will be. For those of you who don’t know about the show, Mythbusters is a show on Discovery Channel that takes myths, urban legends and tall tales and sees how they hold up when they come face to face with Science! They tell if the myths are true or if they definitely could not happen. The Scientific Method is going on in full force. The Mythbuster team takes the experiements to the max using some modern tech and even including some powered up explosions.

MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition is your family’s chance to be part of the action by actually trying out some of the Mythbusters methods during the exhibit. Below are some ways LSC has lined up to help out families get to the bottom of things.

Wonder – What crazy questions can we ask?
Research – What is already known about those questions?
Guess – What do you think the answers are?
Test – Design experiments to answer the questions.
Discover – Test and test again…and break some stuff too.
Results – What did your experiments tell you?
Share – Shout it from the rooftops! Make a TV show about it!

The exhibition is set up to look like the set of the show but it actually does not matter if you have ever seen or even heard of the show. To be honest with you, I had never watched an episode of it until I went to the exhibit. Now my family cannot get enough of it! There are a few experiments to check like: The Big Bad Wolf where you can see if the little pigs really did have a chance stacking up those bricks. I have been wondering about that for years.

In addition to all of this there is also a Live Demonstration Stage where you can be part of the action. Guests are challenged with myths about human reaction time and momentum. I would strongly suggest being a part of this or watching it.

If this is something that interests you, it’s time to head over to Liberty Science Center and checking out everything that MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition!

#NintendoSwitch Welcome To the World Of Gaming!

Nintendo Switch- Welcome To the World Of Gaming

Screenshot_20170303-080232Recently, my family had the chance to check out one of the upcoming launch titles for the Nintendo Switch. 1-2 Switch is the perfect party game for all ages, and it will be available day one for your enjoyment. My son & daughter got to test out a variety of gamemodes included in the mini-game filled package. These unique games ranged from finding out who could score more points on a runway to who could draw their weapon faster in an old western showdown. We even checked out a mini game that utilizes the controller’s brand new vibration system. The game revolved around players guessing how many balls were rolling around inside the controller by tilting it back and forth. The Switch’s vibration within the controller is extremely well done, as it feels as if something is really moving around inside of the pad. There are a great variety of games that will be available in 1-2 Switch, and it is definitely a game to check out if you plan on showing off the Switch to family & friends! http://www.nintendo.com/

At the Nintendo Switch event, there were also some very special guests! Coming all the way from Japan to show off what Nintendo’s new powerhouse system has to offer, we met Nintendo legends Shinya Takahashi & Yoshiaki Koizumi. They talked a little bit about what fans should expect to see on the Switch, answered some questions, and even demo’d some of the gamemodes in 1-2 Switch! We also had the chance to play some 1-2 Switch with them. My daughter had an awesome time playing the Wizards gamemode against Yoshiaki Koizumi, and the Copy Dance mode against Shinya Takahashi. The event was an amazing experience, and gave a good look at how much fun it will be to play on the Switch with friends. School of Rock: The Musical- A Perfect Choice For All Ages! @SoRmusical

School of Rock: The Musical – A Perfect Choice For All Ages!SOC10Recently, my family had the chance to attend Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit new Broadway production School of Rock: The Musical. In one of the most fun and energetic shows that fans of the 2003 film and newcomers alike should see, School of Rock translates perfectly to the stage. Being a huge fan of the original movie, I was happy to see many of the jokes making their way into the show, along with some new ones that fell in line with the style and spirit of the movie. Watching the show live brought one of my favorite comedies to life before my eyes. Seeing one of my favorite movies come to life was a dream come true!

In School of Rock: The Musical, a thirty-something-year-old Dewey Finn has found himself behind on the rent, and kicked out of his own band. So, when a phone call from a prestigious school for his best friend about a teaching opportunity is presented to Finn, he finds what could be the solution to his problems. After taking the job, Finn becomes “Ned Schneebly,” the name of his longtime friend and roommate. Upon arriving at the school nearly two hours after the first period has begun, Finn sees that these children need to be broken from the formula that they live in, and showed the ways of rock and roll.

Finn is portrayed perfectly in the show, as his live-action counterpart channels Jack Black’s magic without stepping on the toes of the original performance. All of the children involved in the show’s production are also extremely talented, as they play most of their instrumental sections in real time. The show will bring great nostalgia to fans of the movie, as the final performance is executed perfectly, and the show gives you the same feeling that watching the movie for the first time did.

After seeing the performance, we waited as the children from the show made their way back to the stage for a Q&A session. We had the chance to hear about what life is like on set, as each actor is assigned a guardian who must be with them at all times, to where they were when they found out that they got the part. The children, ranging from anywhere in between age nine to their early teens, all loved working with the show, and, while exhausting, have nothing but a great time during the performance. My ten year old daughter asked how often the children had to practice and was told it depended on if they were an understudy or if they were in the show a long time. The practice varied according to the role they had. My hubby asked if their parents were allowed to attend the shows or if they had a go to adult. They told him the parents had to drop them off at the Stage Door and they were taken care of by an assigned guardian.

We loved having the opportunity to check out School of Rock: The Musical, as it is fun for the entire family. Our middle son grew up on the original film, where our youngest had not seen it yet. It was interesting to hear both their perspectives on the Broadway production. Our middle son, who has seen the movie a zillion times thought they got the musical absolutely perfect! My daughter who has never seen the movie, now wants to see it badly! Our family can’t wait to take visiting friends and family to see this great show when they are in town! School of Rock: The Musical is a must-see for 2017, and an experience that your family should definitely not miss! A while back our family got a sneak peek at the beginning of DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby and absolutely loved it! You are really in store for some fun with this one. Both parents and kids are going to laugh throughout the film. I am beyond thrilled to be able to invite readers of 3decades3kids to a super advance screening of the movie. DreamWorks Animation and the director of Madagascar invite you to meet a most unusual baby.  He wears a suit, speaks with the voice and wit of Alec Baldwin, and stars in the animated comedy, DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby.  The Boss Baby is a hilariously universal story about how a new baby’s arrival impacts a family, told from the point of view of a delightfully unreliable narrator, a wildly imaginative 7 year old named Tim.  With a sly, heart-filled message about the importance of family, DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby is an authentic and broadly appealing original comedy for all ages.  http://www.dreamworks.com/thebossbaby/

Directed by: Tom McGrath

Written by: Michael McCullers (based on the award-winning picture book by Marla Frazee)

Cast: Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow, Miles Bakshi

THE BOSS BABY hits theaters everywhere on March 31, 2017!
