FyrFlyz Spin Your… FyrFlyz We Own The Night!

Looking for some great family fun? Maybe an alternative to video games for kids. I may have found the answer with this little high energy toy!
With these days of video and online games, sometimes it’s difficult to find something that is not electronic to keep the kids occupied. I think we have found something that is really fun and entertaining, not just hours, but days, or longer.
When FyrFlyz arrived in the mail, I wasn’t sure what they were or how my children would react to them.
It was amazing to see just how excited they were to try them out!

I knew the kids would initially like them because anything that lights up in our house is a hit, but I could really not imagine the show I was in for in the coming days!
FyrFlyz are the creation of i-Star Entertainment President Joel Rosenzweig and CEO Marty Abrams, who have had major success with Magna Doodle, Micronauts, and Sky Dancers, just to name a few. I can see why this company has earned the reputation for creating some of the hottest products for kids, tweens, and teens.

FyrFlyz was a total hit in our house. My twelve year old son could not wait to try them out. There are 3 types available: Cyclone, Nytfyr, and Blue Angel. These compact toys can create many many hours of exciting play as the kids discover new light patterns including Large Orbits, Sydwynders, Black Holes, or Shooting Stars!
If it was not enough fun to watch my son making a million patterns with his FyrFlyz, I decided to take them to an event I was working to see how other children would react. The kids loved FyrFlyz! Thanks to FyrFlyz we were able to make quite a few children happy that day. Both boys and girls enjoyed making stars, circles, and my favorite, flowers!

My children really had a blast with FyrFlyz and are learning new patterns to make with them every day!
Don’t miss your chance at some light up fun!

Traces NYC

US National Tour
 NYC
Looking for a great off Broadway show that’s fun for the entire family? You can find one with Traces. So exciting!
Traces, which gets us in touch with the seven character cast, really is a fast paced, thrilling, acrobatic filled, stunt based show.
Traces will have you holding onto your seat as the cast flies through the air just a few feet in front of you. Not to mention there are no safety nets.
By the end of the show, I felt as though I knew each and every member of the cast. This show is very unique and connects directly to the audience. I’m not sure where else you can find basketball, contemporary dance, modern dance, skateboards and more right in front of your eyes. You will not be disappointed!
Traces has a unique way of pulling the audience in, from the minute you are seated, including the preshow(which you may be the star of) and the directions before Traces begins! Talk about a fascinating use of irony.

Traces is a 90 minute, no intermission show. But, you won’t want to leave in the middle anyway. The show only gets better as it goes on. One act is better than the next. I had the pleasure of enjoying this show with my 20, 12 and 4 year old and they all loved it!

The Lion King 3D In Theaters Sept. 16th-Screening Review!

In Theaters September 16th for
A Limited Engagement

Recently, I had the pleasure of attending the NYC screening of The Lion King 3D. Being a forever Disney fan, my family and I could not wait for the event to take place. The movie has long been a family favorite and toys from our now 20 year old son are still scattered in our play room for our 4 year old daughter to enjoy. Seeing the movie the day it opened many years ago (and tearing up every time since then that I watch it) I was curious to see if there would really be any difference seeing it in 3D.
I must admit, you definitely will be missing out on some Disney magic if you do not see this in its limited engagement 2 week theater run.
From the moment the Circle of Life began to play,
I was overcome with emotion and felt so much a part of the experience. The transition to 3D was wonderful.
Just when I thought the movie could not get any better, there it was right in front of my eyes. Of course, the 3D glasses were a real plus, especially during the stampede, for more reasons than one (wonderful after all these years to finally have something covering my eyes as the tears rolled).
By now it is hard to find someone that does not know the story of brother vs. brother in this African tale of jealously, love, and the meaning of true family and of course, the circle of life. If you have never seen The Lion King on the big screen, now is your chance. Of course, it will be thrilled to watch this one over and over, as we already have a copy of the new DVD on pre-order. I’m sure it will continue to be a renewed family favorite.
Em getting some African face-painting.

After the movie we were pleased to be a part of the mix and mingle. Lion King 3D swag was flowing with posters, tattoos, rulers, and lunch bags provided by Subway. More fun was the children came  along in the form of face-painting and delicious goodies. A few celebs were a part of the fun and could not have been any nicer. We truly had a magical day!

CONTAGION Movie Screening In Theaters Sept. 9th

The other night I was lucky enough to attend a screening of the movie, CONTAGION. This action thriller directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, and Jud Law really brought the fears of many people right to the surface. There really is no way to stop an air-borne or surface virus from spreading, is there?
The theater went silent as the threat of the on screen virus spread internationally. No one was safe from young to old as the CDC was contracted by the government to track down the cause of the spreading virus and massive deaths and find a cure. While we waited, the suspense built and the bond with the characters increased as we feared for their lives.
This movie hit close to home with me since two years ago my son contracted H1N1 on a family vacation. The symptoms hit rapidly and we were all quarantined in a hotel room for 7days. I could really relate to the fear instilled throughout this flick.
I did notice quite a few people exiting the theater when the movie ended and using the available hand sanitizers that were available. CONTAGION was not only action filled, but really very thought provoking. As for when someone in the theater coughed….It just sent a chill down my spine.
You can check out CONTAGION online. Rated PG 13 In theaters September 9th.
