Recently I had the privilege of attending a special event commemorating the release of Chizi’s Tale, a children’s book about an orphaned baby black rhino and the family who took him in and helped him survive. In the story, a pair of park rangers in Zimbabwe discover a young black rhino, only a day old, who had been abandoned by his mother. When they inform the park manager about this, he nobly decides to take care of the rhino himself, bringing it home to live with his family. Chizi’s Tale tells the story of the year that the young rhino (named Chisiwana, or “Orphaned One”– Chizi for short) spent with the family, and shows us how he grew and interacted with the family.

This story of friendship, bravery, and social consciousness is an adorable and well-written introduction to greater issues like endangered species and caring for the earth’s wildlife.  In keeping with that goal, 100 percent of the author proceeds from the book will be donated to Tusk.org, a charity dedicated to supporting wildlife, communities, and education in Africa. The book stands as a hallmark of Peek-A-Boo Publishing’s inaugural season, proudly carrying the publisher’s focus on diversity and innovation in storytelling.

Chizi’s Tale is an inspirational and heartwarming story that your whole family is sure to love– it’s already a hit with ours! http://chizistale.com
