Desaki Restaurant In The Pocono Mountains

Nestled in the Pocono Mountains we found a hidden gem when it comes to dining. Featuring Sushi and Hibachi you can find something to please everyone in your family. Recently our family had the pleasure of dining at Desaki Restaurant. It was out first experience there and what a wonderful time we had. Desaki Restaurant is a family run restaurant and definitely something special. First of all the restaurant is spotless! It is one of the cleanest places, even the parking lot gleams.

When it comes to dining, what can I say, it is quite an event to dine there. We were greeted with smiles at check in and seated quickly. Desaki dining has tables that encircle a grill where everything is cooked before your very eyes. How exciting! You may be seated with other people according to your party size. We were a party of five and joined by two couples.

Our family started out with some delicious appetizers from bacon wrapped scallops( to die for), to  shrimp skewers, Gyoza, and Volcano Stacked Onion Rings. Yes, it was all as good as it sounds, even better. You definitely need to try the appetizers!

It took a few minutes for us all to decide on what to choose for dinner, it all sounded so incredibly delicious.  We ended up  all going with the Teppan-Yaki( Hibachi Style). If you choose Hibachi it includes a three course meal that begins with Edamame (a first for us) and a bowl of traditional Japanese soup. The Hibachi meal includes fresh vegetables, fried rice and Lo Mein noodles, cooked in front of you with a special mix of Japanese sauces and spices. Some of our dinner selections included Filet Mignon and Teriyaki Chicken, Filet Mignon and Lobster Tail, Teriyaki Chicken and Jumbo Shrimp, and Lobster Tail and Sea Scallops. Wow, thinking about that dinner is really making me hungry! So so so delicious. If Hibachi is not your style, you will be super happy to hear they have a full selection of Sushi to choose from on their extensive menu.

Now, as if the dinner selections were not delicious enough, the presentation was just incredible. Our personal table chef answered questions, told jokes, chatted with us and kept the entire group entertained. He caught eggs in his hat, created a smoky volcano from raw onions, diced up all the veggies, meats and shellfish before our very eyes and served everyone what had to be one of the most delicious dinners our family has every eaten in the Pocono region. Of course there was also “broccoli catching” from the chef to us. Emily was the only one to make the catch at our table. Maybe we need to go back for more practice!

Desaki runs like a well oiled machine. The dinner just flowed. Everywhere I glanced I could see other people smiling, laughing and have the time of their lives as dinner was cooked though a fire show simultaneously throughout the restaurant. It’s a place you can dine with friends, family or a date. We also met up with quite a few “regulars” that were locals. It says a lot about a restaurant when you meet people that dine there over and over again.

Our dinner ended but the fun didn’t. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner and chatting about how much we loved dining there. He gave us a quick tour and some background info about how he was behind building the business from the ground up less than seven years ago. We were about to see the center bar, which you can visit without dining, if you would just like to meet up with friends. There were even video game consoles installed to make it more fun for kids! There happened to be a birthday party going on as we walked around, which was taking place in a private dining room. Did I mention there is a dance floor!? Since we were there on Saturday night, my daughter was thrilled to have a chance to dance, get her face painted (along with other children), and take home a pretty flower created by the balloon artist.

Desaki is definitely a place I would return to again and again. It’s a restaurant where they make you feel like you are part of the family. Good fun, clean, entertaining, and more. How can you go wrong? If you are in the Poconos in the future you should definitely check out Desaki Restaurant. You will love it, promise!
