Hunger Hits Home
April 14th
8pm/7c
FoodNetwork

With more than 16 million kids in houses that are struggling to put food on the table, it is time for America to Stand Up for Americans!
Children that seems to have it all together in school and on the field go home with an empty stomach at the end of the night. It seems that we worry about starving children in other parts of the world, but never look in our own backyard and think of the hungry American children. Some people will turn around and say it is their parents fault and their parents obligation to feed them. But as we point the finger at everyone, who is stepping up to feed the hungry children.
It’s funny that this fell into my lap. I had just posted about miles of lines of people waiting to buy lottery tickets while they most likely walked passed a homeless person or someone in need on their way to the lottery machine.
The funny thing about hungry children, they are hard to identify. They look like other children and they will never say a word because of the respect to their parents and their own pride. I have seen and helped many struggling families in the past and now it is a great time for you to get involved by watching HUNGER HITS HOME on April 14th  at 8pm/7c. on Food Network. If you are not familiar with this problem in America, you will be SHOCKED when you see it! It’s worth a look. I will be watching, too! I have seen this WAY too many times…sadly.

I will be tweeting along that night as @3decades3kids and @MacKidNewarkNJ

In an effort to support and fight against childhood hunger, Food Network in a partnership with Share Our Strength will air a special 1-hour documentary titled HUNGER HITS HOME on April 14th at 8pm/7c.  The documentary offers a first-hand look at the crisis of childhood hunger in America through the eyes of the parents, children, activists, educators and politicians on the frontlines of the battle.  The program takes us to the heart of the matter with a focus on families from New York to Texas who struggle with hunger and the community leaders who are taking direct action to fight it. Remember EVERY DOLLAR counts!

Giveaway:
Screening NYC
April 16th 6pm.

The other night I had the pleasure of attending the NYC screening of To The Arctic 3D IMAX. I could not think of a better way to spend my night. I am always interested in learning more about animals. It’s very fascinating to me, especially when it takes place in an area of the world that I most likely will never venture out to see in person. To The Arctic took place in Antarctica and Norway and took us on a 3D adventure of a life time. My heartstrings were tugged watching the polar bear mom and cubs as they narrowly escaped death. What I loved most about the film was the knowledge I gained about the animals living in the rapidly increasing dangers of global warming.

When the film ended I had the distinct pleasure of meeting both Director Greg MacGillivray (“The Living Sea,” “Dolphins”)
and producer Shawn MacGillivray in a lively talk back session. It was an honor to meet both gentlemen.
The gave a first hand account on just how difficult it was to make To The Arctic 3D and the conditions that were faced during filming. They also happily answered my son’s question asking how they were able to get Paul McCartney to compose and sing the songs for this movie. Director Greg MacGillivray explained how close to home the love of nature and animals was to Paul McCartney and how he was very willing to accept something that meant so much to him.

SYNOPSIS: An extraordinary journey to the top of the world, To The Arctic 3D is the ultimate tale of survival. The film takes audiences on a never-before-experienced journey into the lives of a mother polar bear and her two seven-month- old cubs as they navigate thechanging Arctic wilderness they call home. Captivating, adventurous, and intimate footage brings moviegoers up close and personal with this family’s struggle to survive in a frigid environment of melting ice, immense glaciers, spectacular waterfalls, and majestic snow-bound peaks.

Giveaway Win a Pair of Tix to Venus In Fur on Broadway NYC

VENUS In FUR on Broadway
Lyceum Theatre NYC
Ticket Giveaway
Venus In FurNow On BroadwayLyceum Theatre NYCRecently I had the chance to take in the Broadway show Venus In Fur.My night started with a great cocktail party at one of my favorite NYC stops, Hurley’s SaloonI had that chance to catch up with some fellow bloggers and have a few laughs. When I was invited to Venus In Fur I really did not know what to expect. This show has only a cast of two, Nina Arinda as Vanda and Hugh Dancy as Thomas. The wonderful understudies are Mark Alhadeff for Thomas and Liv Rooth for Vanda. The night I got to enjoy the show with Nina Arinda and Mark Alhadeff.I have really never been to a Broadway show with only a cast of two. I have also never been to a Broadway show with the focus on sexual content. I am pleased to tell you that both were fabulous.I am certainly not intimidated about sexual content, so I was interested to see how the show would play out.I was happy to see that it was performed in just the right light that kept things right on the edge. Although there was no nudity, Vanda was quite scantily dressed throughout the show. The show runs for one hour and forty minutes without an intermission. You will not want to leave for any reason once it begins. This erotic comedy begins suddenly with a thrash of lightning that’s shakes the audience into full attention. As Thomas, the writer/director, conveys his frustrations of the day to his girlfriend via cellphone Vanda haphazardly enters the room. Thomas, disgusted by the day and lack of someone to fill the role, has no patience for Vanda and her stories about the subway and being hours late for an appointment she never had.Thomas and Vanda struggle over Venus In FurHe sees it as a wonderful love story, she sees it as S&M soft porn. And so the story begins.Vanda finally convinces Thomas to let her read for the role of Vanda(same name)  and also convinces him he would be the perfect  Kushemski. This is where the fun begins. There are many times during the show that the entire audience was cackling!  Venus In Fur is a definite for a date night, friends night, or any night. Mark Alhadeff as ThomasThis show is for adults and deals with some mature sexual content. If you have an open mind and enjoy a great erotic comedy, this is definitely for you! You can check out Venus In Fur by clicking here! For Ticket information Click Here!
