Recently I had the pleasure of attending the G.U.M. Star Wars Toothbrush Launch Party hosted by Momtrends at Ripley’s Believe It or Not Times Square.
If there is one thing my children have never complained about, it is brushing their teeth but with G.U.M. Star Wars toothbrushes in the house, things just got easier!
A wealth of information was available and all of the toothbrushes were available for everyone to check out. Personally, I could not choose a favorite. I believe we will have every toothbrush in the house very soon. I cannot think of anything more important that clean and healthy teeth and gums!
I was excited to check out the new line of toothbrushes and gain even more knowledge about having a happy and healthy mouth!
Everyone enjoyed rubbing elbows with the special surprise guests Darth Vader
 and a Stormtrooper, especially Emily!
She had to go back and get a picture of just herself with both of them.
Not sure what that means about her future husband!
My youngest to oldest child was entertained with all of the great activities including a scavenger hunt, the laser maze race, crafts and puzzles, too!
They were also able to enjoy Ripley’s Believe It or Not.
Seeing that we are family of Star Wars fans, this was a great day for everyone!
While the children were busy with their activities, the adults were able to be schooled by 
Pediatric Dental Expert Dr. Michael Ignelzi DDS Phd. He let us know all about oral hygiene for children and answered quite a few questions.
I’m happy to share some great tips from Dr. Ignelzi  with you!
  • Make sure you have the right amount of fluoride 20 to 40% (the size of a small pea).
  • Avoid sticky foods (like Fruit Roll Ups).
  • Make your child’s first dental visit on their first birthday.
  • Floss as soon as your child will tolerate it. 
  • Use a floss pick for ease.
  • Get into a routine. Brushing in the morning and at night is a great routine that 86% of dentists on.
  • Replace toothbrushes every three months or once bristles are worn.(Also, replace toothbrush after illness-Strep throat, etc)- Okay, that one is my own tip from experience!
  • Get sealants on permanent teeth not on baby teeth. 90% of cavities in permanent teeth begin in the grooves. Sealant can prevent 9 out of 10 cavities.
  • Get fluoride in water. Buy bottled water with fluoride. Dannon Water to Go Bottled water has fluoride in it! A dentist or doctor can write an Rx for children.

Recently my family and I had the chance to enjoy
 The Amazing Max and The Box of Interesting Things show 
at the MMAC Theater on 60th St. NYC.
Our family has always been big magic fans, so we could 
not wait to see a full show by The Amazing Max!
He did not disappoint!

The Amazing Max (Max Darwin) was born into the business. He traveled all through the United States with his parents who were performers that specialized in clowning, mime, juggling and magic.  Max Darwin has a natural pizazz at entertaining both children and adults alike. The audience roared time after time at the amazing tricks and endless jokes of Max! 
Since 2000, Max has performed more than 3,000 
magic shows in NYC.
Max is currently starring in and opened ended run of this Off-Broadway show, “The Amazing Max and the Box of Interesting Things”.

Max will also release his first instructional Magic DVD for kids, “Magic In Minutes” available for purchase in Spring 2012!
As for my family and I, we laughed our heads off during the show!
We loved the show from beginning to end, including Max entering the show by driving in on his little cart.
Max delighted us with some great magic tricks like The Bag of Wonders, Coins! Coins! Coins!, The Acrobatic Knot,
The First Trick I Ever Did, Hamlet, and Dangerous Juggling for No Reason Whatsoever! 
One trick was more amazing than the next! I personally loved how interactive Max was with the audience. He made everyone feel welcome and that they he was performing the trick just for them! 
Some lucky children even got chosen to help Max with many of the tricks and were able to catch their own magician’s stick!
There was also a chance afterwards to meet up with The Amazing Max for pictures and autographs! There was even a chance to bring home a piece of the magic by visiting Max’s Magic Store.
