General Mills and DC Entertainment Join Forces to Promote Reading Among Children
Joshua Williamson, Steve Scott, Paul Tobin, Louie and Adam

This past weekend my family and I had the wonderful experience of attending New York City Comic Con’s Kids Day as special guests of General Mills and DC Comics. It was exciting to meet and chat with illustrator, Steve Scott, and writers Joshua Williamson and Paul Tobin, from DC Comics.

Being a mom of three and having twenty years of teaching under my belt, I was just delighted to hear about General Mills and DC Entertainment partnering to further children’s love of reading through their new campaign. As if General Mills cereal is not good enough by itself, it just got a little bit better with this new perk. Inside every delicious box you can find one of a series of four Super Hero Comic Books featuring Batman, Green Lantern
and Wonder Woman.
I better leave a little extra time in the mornings because I know we will have some serious reading going on in our house and it will begin right at the breakfast table! A total of 12 million comic books will be offered to costumers, while supplies last.

You can find the Justice League comics free right  inside specially marked Big G boxes of cereal: Participating Big G cereals include Cinnamon Toast Crunch(17oz.), Lucky Charms(16oz.), Honey Nut Cheerios(17oz.), Trix(14.8oz.), Golden Grahams(16oz.), Reese’s Puffs(18oz.), and Cocoa Puffs(16.5oz.).

“Combining beloved DC Comics Super Heroes with our kid-friendly cereals allow us to play a huge part in providing families everything they need for a positive start to their day,” said Julie Anderla, integrated communications manager at General Mills. “Our aim is to encourage reading among children by providing them with material they are enthusiastic about.” As a mom who loves to both read and promote reading to anyone who will listen, I cannot even begin to tell you how much this promotion thrills me.

Just when you think it can’t get any better, there is still one more thing you should know: You can find Part 2 to each of the comic books online at BigCerealHeroes.Com. Enjoy!
By the way, the comic books are not just enjoyable for children, adults will love them, too! I would know. I have already read all four!

Disclosure: Special thanks to General Mills and DC Entertainment through MyBlogSpark  for providing me with tickets to NYC Comic Con and special meet and greet autograph opportunity. All opinions are that of Diane Sullivan and 3decades3kids.
