I think half of the conversation in this house revolves around gaming and around XBOX Live! I could probably tell you stats on games I’ve never played, but know enough about from hearing the daily details. Don’t get me wrong, I’m pretty into gaming myself and have tried just about every game that has entered the house, some more than others! As a mother of a 6-year-old, a 13-year-old, and a 22-year-old, I needed to find the perfect game for my whole family to enjoy. I found the exact game I was looking for when I found out about Doodle Jump for Kinect. I wanted to keep my family active this summer, and Doodle Jump for Kinect does a great job balancing activity and fun gameplay!
I had never heard of Doodle Jump before, and after my son saw it on the Xbox Live Marketplace, he said how excited he was for the game, since he was already familiar with it because it started out as a mobile title. Although I hadn’t heard of Doodle Jump before, I was happy to see it was for Kinect, because I strongly encourage the combination of gaming and activity. I was thrilled to be offered the chance for the family to check it out! Everyone had an awesome time, including mom and dad! 

Doodle Jump for Kinect responds to all your moves. With every step you take your green little character friend steps up and jumps. Want him to destroy the monsters that are after his land?
Just move your hand and he will get them. This game is rated E for everyone and can be played alone or by taking turns. I may be caught this summer playing this game alone because I can understand it!

I have never honestly thought about cooking with yogurt. We always have yogurt in our fridge. It’s a family staple in this house, but cooking with it never crossed my mind once. I always viewed it as a cold food and never thought of anything else that could be done with it. I was thrilled to come across some wonderful cooking suggestions that put our beloved yogurt into even more parts of our day! Along with that, I also found out the awesome news that the American Dairy Association and Dairy Council is not on Facebook and Twitter! I found out some wonderful things about cooking with yogurt and a conversion chart with some substitutions you can use during cooking or baking. (source:Chobani website)



Conversion Chart: Cooking With Greek Yogurt

  • 1 cup butter = 1/4 cup Greek yogurt and 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup oil = 3/4 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup sour cream=1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup mayonnaise = 1 cup Greet yogurt
  • 1 cup cream cheese= 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup buttermilk= 1 cup Greek yogurt and 1/3 cup milk or buttermilk
  • 1 cup heavy cream= 1/2 cup Greek yogurt and 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup creme fraiche= 1 cup Greek yogurt

Greek yogurt is made with milk and an active yogurt culture. Actually, it takes about four gallons of milk to make a gallon of Greek yogurt. Like all yogurt, it is a good source of calcium. Before its packaged, Greek yogurt is strained to remove some of the excess whey, resulting in a creamier, thicker, more satisfying yogurt.  Although brands vary, compared to regular non-fat yogurt, Greek yogurt typically has twice as much protein, less sugar, and less lactose.

·        A “Do” for Diabetics – Greek yogurt has a naturally lower sugar and carbohydrate content than regular yogurt, which makes it a great choice for diabetics who want a product that meets their nutritional needs while offering great taste.

·        Gluten-free – Greek yogurt is gluten free meaning it has contains no wheat, rye, or barley or other gluten-containing thickeners making it a great dessert alternative for those with Celiac disease.  (Because new product formulations are always occurring, please check product ingredient labels if you need to maintain a gluten-free diet)

This is the recipe for the muffins posted in the picture. They are delicious and NO one ever even suspected that they included Greek yogurt.



EASY-TO-MAKE, EASIER-TO-EAT MUFFINS
Love muffins? These easy-to-make muffins are delicate and moist and are great with coffee (for thegrownups) or with milk (for the kids). Recipe yields 12 muffins. Punch up the recipe by adding fresh fruit or honey!
INGREDIENTS
  • 1.5 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 0.5 cup softened butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 0.5 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 3 TBS whole milk
  • 1 TBS vanilla extract
BAKING METHOD
1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
2. Whisk butter and sugar together and add egg mixture.
3. Add Greek yogurt, milk and vanilla
4. Mix flour with baking soda and gradually add to liquid mixture, incorporating well.
I added blueberries because my children love fruit muffins! Of course you can add anything you would like to make the muffins perfect for your own family!
5. Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.

7. Insert a toothpick into the center – if it comes out clean, it’s time to eat! ENJOY!. Fill muffin tin cups almost full.

Attendees Get a Glimpse of the Real Batmobile
Recently I was thrown back a bit into my childhood days of watching Batman on TV. Okay, I may be dating myself but I must admit I was glued to our tiny television every chance I could to watch the original Batman series complete with bubble words of, “Crash! Pow! Zonk! Boom!”. When I heard that Mezco was unveiling the new Mez-Itz Classic 1966 TV Series Batmobile I could not wait to get a look at it! As if seeing the new toy right there in front of me was not enough, the actual Batmobile made an appearance, driven by Batman (Bob DeSimone) of course. If I didn’t know better, I would have thought it was Adam West!
Batman and Batmobile on 42nd Street NYC! Yes, please! What could make the event any better? Mezco pulled out all the stops with this unveil, having the Batmobile be driven right into the famous Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! The crowds of fans cheered as they caught a glimpse of Batman and the Batmobile, some chasing after the car down the street.
 As only Mezco could present it, Batman officially unveiled the new toy for all to gawk at in unison, some fans dressed up as Batman himself.


Lucky fans who dressed the part lined up to receive a free Batman toy from Mezco’s Michael Drake who boasted a huge smile as he handed out one Batman after another. People came from near and far as well as passers by who cheered, “Timing is everything!”. There was also an 18 inch Classic Batman Mez-Itz figured valued at $1,000.00 up for grabs. Sadly, I was not the winner, but one lucky person did go home with it!


More about the 1966 Mez-Itz Batmobile from Mezco:
Mezco is proud to present the latest additions to the Mez-Itz DC Universe: the 1966 Batmobile with Batman and Robin.      Want to look at lions? Gaze at giraffes? Observe some ostrich? Feel like heading off on a summer safari, but can’t quite make it to Africa? You should check out Six Flags Great Adventure’s brand new Safari Off-Road Adventure! Located in Jackson New Jersey, Six Flags Great Adventure is only a short drive away from major cities like New York and Philadelphia, but the Safari Off-Road Adventure offers an experience unlike anything else around!

     From the moment you step aboard the safari vehicle, it feels as though you’ve
been transported far away, as the sights and sounds of the amusement park fade away, replaced by the natural environments where the animals roam. There certainly is an abundance of both– from terrains designed to mimic the plains of Africa and the wilderness of the Americas to the outback of Australia, and featuring creatures as diverse as the African elephant, rhinoceros, bison, and white tiger (to name a few), this safari has something for everyone!
