Netflix Launches Puss In Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale- Choose Your Own Adventure Now On Netflix and IOS

Being part of the Netflix Stream Team is pretty much like living in a dream. Recently our family was invited to cozy shop owned bookstore in NYC. We were not given much information about the event so that everything could be kept under wraps until today’s big launch. As if Netflix is not already our go to place for everyone in our family, it seems that as of today it is getting even better. Netflix is unrolling “Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale” where your child is put in the driver’s seat!

puss3After being a classroom teacher for twenty years and a mom of three there is one thing I know about children, they love to be the ones making the decisions. Netflix will now give the children what they want, they will be the director of their own show. They will choose what happens next and how the story will progress. The best part of all is that they can go back and then choose the alternate choice and watch a completely different episode. There are so many choices.

puss8So, here is how it works. Each episode is about 25-40 minutes long depending on the choices made. Puss in Boots is trapped inside of a fairy tale and only goes on based on the decisions made by the watcher. There are pause points where the viewer will be shown two pictures that look like storybook pages. They will have to choose one of the pages in order for the story to continue. What a fun adventure! You can watch this on your IOS device or on your tv- you will need your remote handy if you are watching on tv.

At the event the children were put to the test to see if Netflix had a winner on their hands. Judging by the smiles and laughter, I would have to say they do. Of course if you are watching it with more than one person will also be learning some life skills about compromise and taking turns. We were introduced to the ins and outs of this new interactive storytelling by Carla Engelbrecht Fisher, the director of product innovation at Netflix. School is out for summer. It’s a perfect time to introduce your child to this new interactive Netflix experience. From one parent to another, you will definitely want to watch it with your child a few times. It’s a great family activity as well as alone screen time.

 Get ready Transformers fans! We have an awesome special event just for you that you will not want to miss out on! To celebrate the opening of one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, Transformers: The Last Knight, The Paley Center for Media will host Transformers Through the Years: A Super-Saturday Family Screening Celebration. The fun-filled afternoon will include a premiere screening of a new Transformers animated episode and also classic animated episodes, as well as immersive photo activities that will place families right in the Transformers universe, and free Transformers toys to the first 350 children in attendance. The event is free and open to the public and will take place at the Paley Center’s New York location on June 17, 2017.

“We’re thrilled to partner with our good friends at Hasbro Studios to present this exciting Transformers-themed celebration,” said Maureen J. Reidy, President and CEO of The Paley Center for Media. “Transformers Super-Saturday Family Screening Celebration!is just one of many family-friendly events that take place here throughout the year, making the Paley Center the entertainment destination for families and kids of all ages.”

 

The free afternoon of activities includes a premiere screening from the animated seriesTransformers: Robots in Disguise, as well as specially selected Transformers animated favorites including Transformers Prime, Transformers: Robots in Disguise and Transformers: Beast Wars. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage in a unique animated photo activity where they will find themselves immersed in the middle of the Transformers world. These special photos, created by Smilebooth, can also be shared on social media. In addition, visitors can pose with Transformers standees that will adorn the Paley Center lobby. To top it all off, the first 350 children in attendance will receive a special Transformers toy.

RCCafeEvery Father’s Day our family goes back and forth trying to come up with unique suggestions about where we can take Dad for a treat. This year we have come up with one that will not soon be forgotten. The Summer Garden & Bar  at Rock Center Café has a special treat for ice cream lovers this Father’s Day and throughout the summer. The seasonal outdoor dining venue (which replaces The Rink at Rockefeller Center each year) now offers a DIY sundae service, a menu giving guests the chance to create the sundae of their dreams, with house made ice cream flavors, toppings, syrups, whipped cream and more. Guests are invited to choose their ingredients, and then build their own sundae at the table, with 58 million possible personalized sundae combinations on the menu. These are real choices and there are many- so be prepared to have to make decisions! There will no disappointment with the new Summer Sundae. Everyone in the family can make their own personal choices and create a Sundae they will adore!

It all begins with the most incredible housemade ice cream flavors ever. They include chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. Chef Gabriel churns the ice cream at his bake shop beneath Rock Center along with baking cakes and brownies as toppings and making his own syrups and sauces.  Created by Pastry Chef Michael Gabriel, the sundae is designed to be highly interactive. “Every summer we have a high demand for ice cream, and guests today increasingly want to customize dessert their own way,” explained Gabriel. “We wanted to add a playful twist by revamping all-American favorites and added that the most-requested flavors and toppings — birthday cake is currently #1″.

 So bring on the ice cream. You can choose from vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry- Choose three- any combo will work. Then choose FIVE toppings which are an ode to classic candy shop treats: M&M’s, gummy bears, and candied pecans, mini marshmallows, chocolate chip cookie dough, Oreo cookie crumble, caramel pearls, peanut butter cups, rainbow sprinkles, or brownie bites! , vintage-style sugar-swirl lollipops and caramel pearls. Choose two syrups from- chocolate, salted caramel, strawberry or peanut butter. For a spectacular bigger than life ending you can choose one chocolate covered banana, birthday cake, red velvet cupcake or sugar swirl lollipop! Of course you can top it all off with whipped cream and a cherry! This is a great treat for yourself or to share. There is definitely enough for two…or more.
