mWicked The Musical In NYC! A Must Do For All!wickedprogramRecently our family was beyond lucky winning four tickets to Wicked The Musical in NYC from The Broadway Zone at the Kidz Vuz Back To School Bash! If you know our family you already know that we are big Broadway fans! Every year since our oldest son was a young boy we have waited for Kids Night On Broadway and headed to a show! There have been many Broadways shows our family have taken in over the years but somehow we have always missed out on Wicked. We had heard about, seen the previews, met some of the stars at different events, but never been to the show.

wickedbookwickedemilydressSo I promptly ordered a Wickedly hued sequined fancy dress for Emily and off to the theater this family went! The lobby itself was amazing and quite  a picture spot. We purchased some tokens of the show including a mug for me and a Wicked tee for Emily. If you have never been to the Gershwin Theatre on West 51st Street, NYC, you would be quite surprised by its grandness. Our seats were in the orchestra. but it seemed that was no bad seat in the house. We settled in and waited for the show to begin. Expectations were high. Expectations were met and even exceeded.wickeddaddywickedgiftsWicked the musical takes a look at what happened in the Land of Oz many many moons ago. It looks at things in a whole new way and you will, too by the end of the show. Before Dorothy arrives to walk down the yellow brick road we learn about exactly what events put her there. The secrets are unlocked about her friends Scarecrow, Lion and Tin Man. We also find out all about the life of the emerald green skinned super intelligent yet misunderstood woman and her best friend who wants to make her popular! You will have to judge yourself when it comes to telling which one is good and which one is Wicked! Many secrets will emerge and many back stories revealed as you journey through Wicked the musical in NYC! As for the flying monkeys, they are always my favorites.

wickedhousewickedmommySo if you are looking for an amazing day or night on Broadway look no farther than Wicked the musical. The story is unique and the music is outstanding. If you do book the show remember to visit the website and check out all it has to offer. You will be glad you did. If you are visiting with children please remember that no children are admitted under the age of five and quite honestly it is kind of a long show for the under five crowd anyway. The first part of the show is a bit long and would not keep them very entertained. The show is recommended for ages eight and above. I think they are right on the money with this age advice. I’m glad we waited until Emily was nine to see it. I think it may have scared her if she was a little younger although there is really nothing that frightening in the show. I was warned by others to beware of how scary the show was but I was imagining something way more scary. The only things I can think of to help you out is that if you show your child the video of the flying monkeys and the OZ head the kids should be just fine.

wickedpropswickedsnowglobeSo grab your friends and family and kids and head to see Wicked the musical. Please watch the videos and listen to the music beforehand to maximize your enjoyment of the show. Also, arrive early so you can see all of the props and costumes that adorn the lobby. There is even a picture opp that you can purchase. If you spend over $50 on souvenirs you can prepurchase the photo for half price! It’s an adorable keepsake where you can put on a witch hat, cape, use a wand, etc. and be photographed on a green screen where magically the land of OZ and Wicked characters will appear beside you. Ours is already framed! Hope you get to see Wicked the musical in your lifetime. See you on Broadway!
